Introducing… Becca’s Blooms 🌸

Flower pressing — a surprisingly precise, scientific, and time-intensive craft — came into my life about four years ago.

I had just moved into an apartment with a sun-filled deck, where I quickly fell in love with gardening.

I found so much peace in working with my hands. In creating. In slowing down. In being present.

When winter came, I didn’t want to lose that feeling, so I began preserving what I’d grown. I had no idea then it would become something I’d fall so deeply into.

Pressing petals between books. Experimenting with designs. Testing glue techniques. Searching for the right frames. Taking apart delicate blooms and rebuilding them, piece by piece. Eventually, with the help of a friend, I built my first real flower press.

It’s funny how the right things find you.

For me, this one is deeply personal. It began not long after I lost my younger sister. She was an incredibly talented florist, and through this process, I’ve found a way to stay connected to her — to honour her creativity and her love for flowers.

Becca’s Blooms is a reflection of that journey — of growth, creativity, and memory — and of who I am today.

Thank you for being here 💛💐 by @beccasblooms_

No video games, just peacefully pressing flowers. 🌸

But Lana playing in the background while I do this? Next level.

Maybe I become a crafting playlist-curating girly. Who knows. 🎶

Anyway, here’s a little minute of me reconstructing some hydrangeas for a very special project.

These babies gave me a bit of trouble during the pressing process. Sometimes florists spray flowers to help preserve them, which can make the petals extra sticky when it comes time to press them.

So, both literally and metaphorically, we had ourselves a sticky situation. 🙃

But after a little patience, some delicate reconstructing, and a whole lot of Lana…

Look how beautifully they turned out! 🥹🩵 by @beccasblooms_

Pour into cups that pour back into yours 💛

Life is far too precious, and your mind only has so much space to give.

Protect your peace, be intentional with where your energy goes, and save that space for the people and things that make you feel good, grounded, and loved.

Leave room for that good, good energy. 🌼 by @beccasblooms_

Pressed hydrangeas. 💛

Feeling extra thankful this Thanksgiving for the ability to use my hands, my mind, and my creativity to do something I genuinely love.

A little reminder that sometimes the simplest things are the biggest things to be grateful for.

Happy Thanksgiving! 🍂🌼 by @beccasblooms_

One way flower pressing has become a benefit is getting me to de plug. 💆🏼‍♀️

No seriously. This dahlia bouquet deconstruction took over an hour. So while I’m filming, no touching the phone.

I put on some good tunes and just seriously force myself to be present.

Maybe some people don’t struggle with this as much. Guilty as charge !!!! 😂

Sometimes you get pleasantly surprised with a song, and this was such a throwback that popped up while working with these petals.

So naturally…had to use it.

Anyways, here’s another commissioned project I’m working on for my friend’s friends, who loves pink dahlias.

A little look at some of the blooms from a very special commission I’m working on 🌸

Soon they’ll be rearranged and pieced back together into something entirely new.

But for now, I’m letting them have their moment.

Just floatin’

Black-eyed Susan season! 😎

Might be my favourite perennial! They also hold their colour so well in the press 💛 by @beccasblooms_

Third market at Trinity Bellwoods and she was a FUN one 💛🌼😎

Not even the very determined September wasps could put a damper on the day 🐝😂

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by to shop, say hi, ask about my pieces, or simply hang out for a little while. These market days truly make my heart so happy 🥹🌸

One more outdoor market with @torontoartisan and I’ll be announcing it very soon 👀🌼✨

Until then, back to the flower press I go! 💐 by @beccasblooms_
