The Macclesfield History Tapestry final public viewing in @stmikesmacclesfield for @treaclemarket today was momentous!

The work sparked fascinating conversations about medieval history, including the Cheshire Archers, the Savages, the Anglo-Saxon chapel predating Eleanor of Castille's re-build of the church, plus living memories of silk weavers, loom tacklers and union reps.

Above all, thank you so much to the over 100 stitchers who made this work live.

The tapestry shall return to @silkmuseum in September, follow Sew Your Place for updates!

My Medieval Illustration workshop @newmaccartschool will introduce you to plant inks like oak-iron, the liquid midnight of Medieval inks.

Used with a quill, you can achieve the charming and characteristic wonkiness of medieval manuscript illustration.

One of the subjects in my workshop will be trees, interlacing branches apprearing to be woven or plaited, iconic and delightful images you'll love drawing.

My workshop is for all abilities, no drawing experience needed at all!

All materials provided plus an insight into my own art practice and research.

The @macclesfieldtc 1261 Festival programme is ready and features the reveal of @sewyourplace Macc History Tapestry. This will be the first ever showing of the work, from 10am in St Michael's church, by the medieval tombs, hosted by @ailsaholland and me.

I'll also be running free medieval walk and draw tours at 12.30 and 1.30 starting and ending from St Michael's. These are free and drawing materials are provided, but please book so I know numbers. All children must be accompanied by an adult for these activities.

@ava_va_va_voom 's show opening today at the most important, creative and vibrant place in Stockport @arccentre was a BLAST with so many friends, family and visitors so full of love and amazement at this incredible young woman's paintings.

Serious post coming but for now we will blast out one of Ava's favourite songs and laugh (and cry) with her.

I am so proud of you Ava

I love Blacksmithing and I love a certain sequence of folklore- magical- historical-fantasy books. So this morning in the old forge in Tudweiliog was a proper dream come true.

Beach studies

Oil pastel, watercolour and sand/seaweed on w/c paper

The light is incredible on Porth Towyn and Ysgaden, the contrasts in the ethereal sea and sky and intense rock shadows. Millions of years of pressure and minutes of tide

We had a great time reading through the exhibition comments book after de-installing The Wild Between @silkmuseummacc. Swipe through to read a few of our favourites. Thank you so much to everyone who visited the show, came to our opening night or to our Evening Rambles collaborative session.

Special thanks to the Silk Museum for hosting our second show in their gallery space and the loan of Earwaker's 'History of East Cheshire' and J.D Sainter's own copy of 'Scientific Rambles Round Macclesfield'

Also to legends of the Folk Renaissance scene @the.stone.club for coming up/over to Macc!

To whoever wrote "The stone can explode!" ; Can we have more info because this seems exciting for future shows?

Did you visit an ancient site, old stone, moor-top or remote church after experiencing The Wild Between?

Did you encounter the spirit of these places of Forest and Clough, find a Fairy Circle, or just feel the shift from flat Cheshire red rock sandstone to enchanting mountain limestone or wild millstone grit?

The lovely @beccasmith_art came for her dress fitting today and I’m relieved and very pleased to say that it fits perfectly, and when paired with the stunning full length cloak, it absolutely nails medieval “style”. These are my interpretations and not intended to be specifically period correct, however they do look the part.

This ensemble will be used as part of Becca’s work as a historian and her love of the medieval period.
