Each element of the learning journey should be included purposefully - including the community.

As a learning designer we include communities as feedback loop strategy, but in my experience not all courses need one.

The inclusion of your community depends heavily on who you are serving and the purpose of this community in your course. By this I mean, are you encouraging networking or are you just using it as a broadcasting platform to promote your other products before your students have even finished?

Communities should be seamlessly blended into the learners effort/identity packs with themselves and others within the course and should encourage process not hinder it.

Here’s why KitchenAid doesn’t have to compete on price.

Their post-purchase customer experience is built so well that they constantly give you reasons to use your new product with their free trainings and monthly whisk recipes.

If I could give you one take away it would be this - look at your post purchase strategy and ask how can you give you customers more reasons to stay and continue to learn from you or use your product more? by @beckcodysbrain

Welcome to my new series “how to build a customer ecosystem”.

Let’s talk about your first post-purchase touch point. It should do 1 of three things:

#1. You need to celebrate your customer and congratulate them on investing in themselves- this helps to negate buyers remorse.

#2. Outline the next steps and/or when they will hear from you again

#3. Give them one action step that also gives them a quick win to keep momentum going.

This customer touch point is the first impression the customer has as to what it’s like to be in your ecosystem, so make it great. by @beckcodysbrain

Make it easy for your customers to unsubscribe/cancel their subscription.

Keep the trust you hard worked so hard to earn.

Yes absolutely gather feedback as to why they are leaving and if there is improvements you can make, but don’t trick them into staying by making the cancel button so hard to find or making the friction so great that they give up and try again later only to fail again.
