We have immense respect for anywhere serving a wedge of Dorstone alongside afternoon apple cake.

It’s thoughtful touches like this that have set the Beckford Group on a roll. Fresh from opening Teffont House near Salisbury in June, the group has now unveiled another Wiltshire address – this time in the market town of Corsham.

In a town famous for its free-roaming peacocks, the sense of whimsy continues inside the former Lloyds Bank, tastefully transformed into a British brasserie with 11 bedrooms upstairs.

The kitchen is led by James Harris, formerly of the Bib Gourmand-holding Beckford Bottle Shop in Bath, while breakfast comes courtesy of pastries from cult Landrace Bakery.

It’s another quietly confident opening from one of Britain’s most consistently impressive hospitality groups.

For me, one of the most exciting UK hotel openings of 2026…

It’s the @beckford.group’s new hotel, a 17th century manor house in an incredibly picturesque village. I’m a big Beckford fan ✅

17 bedrooms, I stayed in room 3. I loved it. It feels like staying in your rich aunt’s spare room 😂

Perfect for a UK getaway, weekend staycation or simply somewhere to eat well and switch off. It only opened in June and already I can tell this one is going to be very, very popular.

We’re thrilled to have received one of the industry’s most respected accolades, the Oscars of hospitality, a Catey Award for Best Pub Group.

This recognition belongs to every member of our team across all of our places, who continue to deserve it every single day.

Congratulations to everyone involved in last night’s awards, a fantastic celebration of everything hospitality can achieve in difficult times.

We’re proud to work alongside our friends and local makers at @johnjulianuk. Rooted in tradition and crafted just down the road from @thebeckfordarms, their beautiful ceramics are a celebration of true British craftsmanship.

@johnjulianuk has become an important part of the dining experience across the world of Beckford, and we’re incredibly grateful to collaborate with such talented makers who share our passion for quality and attention to detail.

Recently, we worked together to create a collection of bespoke mugs for our newest pub, @thebradleyhare. You’ll find them in each of our bedrooms, perfectly complementing the thoughtful design of the space. We hope they encourage a slow morning, with a cup of tea in bed before heading downstairs for breakfast.

Teffont House Croquet Club to star in new Netflix documentary

Following the success of the six-part docuseries 'Being Gordon Ramsay', streaming service Netflix have announced their next deep dive into the world of hospitality with 'Taking on Teffont' - charting the formation of The Teffont House Croquet Club.

Renowned broadcaster Louis Theroux is pegged to present, and early footage shows that he embeds himself within the club for several weeks, adopting full club uniform, developing a concerning fondness for mid-morning Chardonnay, and becoming Vice-Chair of Mallet Alignment.

Guests are warmly invited to attend an exhibition match on the opening day of Teffont House, where the Croquet-based revelry will begin...

Something new is coming...

We are opening @thebradleyhare at Maiden Bradley, a lovely village in Wiltshire, on Valentine's weekend (as in fact we did with The Talbot Inn 13 years ago).

There will be 12 elegant bedrooms and the first availability will be the 13th & 14th February.

We are still working hard behind the scenes to make this happen. Charlie is painting the walls in Farrow & Ball (‘Reduced Green’, his current favourite), Matt is making sure the Hare Ale is topped up, and Dan is figuring out how we pay for it all.

At the moment, the website is a little Heath Robinson (apologies) but we are hopeful that if you like staying at any of our other pubs, you will feel very at home here too.

Be amongst the first to stay and if you have forgotten to make Valentine's Day plans, here is your get out of jail free card.

A touch of British defiance (and a rather lovely bit of news to share...)

We’re delighted to have not one, but two of our country pubs, included in the @goodfoodguideuk inaugural 100 Best Pubs 2025.

At a time when the headlines are full of hospitality doom and gloom - pubs closing, costs rising, and “AI” taking over, we're working really hard to go against the trend and show that great food & drink, a lovely place to stay, and community spirit can keep the British pub alive.

We’re excited to build on this momentum in 2026 with three new openings across the South West, including a much-loved village pub, @thekingsarmsinn in Monkton Farleigh, which is being revived with incredible support from the local community.
