I’m so excited to share that something I’ve been dreaming of for years is HAPPENING! Along with two amazing partners, I’m opening Locally Crafted Workshop, a craft studio and event space in Gaithersburg, Md., in the suburbs of Washington, D.C. I hope you’ll follow along at @createatlocallycrafted to see all the things that are finally leaping out of my brain and into real life.

I’m so fortunate to be joining forces with Stacey and Heather of @locallycraftedshop, a space that sells handmade items from more than 70 local creatives. I’ve been selling my buttons and pencils there since they opened, and now I’m thrilled to be helping them expand their crafty empire with this new project.

Starting in January, we’ll offer classes, workshops, parties and events in this huge new space right down the block from the Locally Crafted store (guys, it’s right next to Target — another dream come true). In the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing lots of details at @createatlocallycrafted, and eventually on our new website. Be sure to read the intro post over there for all the details.

Local friends, I hope to see you in the new space. Far-flung friends, please follow along and share the fun virtually. And maker friends, how can we work together? We’ll have a small retail space selling mostly craft supplies, kits and fun stuff for makers. Or maybe you can share your expertise in a workshop for kids or adults? Can’t wait to find ways to tap into this special community.

Another incredible doodle set from @pacificknitco launches today — how does she keep finding new ways to make knitting so fun? 🌵🌵

Even though the official theme is desert/Southwest, I focused on three perfect cactus motifs in bright colors for more of a “suburban mom with succulents on her windowsill” vibe. The geometric motifs on the border are one of my favorite parts — I will use that chart again for sure.

Main color is @baby.cat.yarns DK in Biscuit — maybe my new favorite neutral. Other colors are DK scraps from many different dyers, including @fangirlfibers, @yarnaceous, @moonglowyarnco and @sunsetfiberco. by @becky_sher

There is a theme with my recent knitting projects — plants!! Specifically, cacti. I think it’s maybe because the shapes are so simple that they translate well to knitting charts. You know how sometimes you see a charted design and you’re like 🤔🤷🏼‍♀️? I feel like that never happens with cactus charts. I loved choosing the colors for these and the knitting was pure delight. 🌵🩷

It’s almost impossible for me to knit a sock with no pink in it. 🤷🏼‍♀️ The main color is a skein I bought from @sunsetfiberco at @frederickfiberfest. It’s her gorgeous MCN sock yarn in Melisandre. Soft but sturdy, with great stitch definition. For me, it counts as a neutral. 😂

Attention, yarn dyers: Samples work! 😊 @yarnjam had a sample of this hat in her booth at @frederickfiberfest. Polka dots are my absolute fave, so I picked two colors from her amazing range and cast on this cutie within hours of getting home. This yarn is so perfect — I’m a sucker for great stitch definition, and this yarn is just showing off. Plus, the “yarn is my jam” stitch marker is the best freebie! So glad to have discovered another new favorite this weekend. 🧡

Welcome to the world, Jungle Doodle Cowl! I’ve knit a lot of doodle patterns, and there are things I love about each of them. This one was fun because I got to dig into my stash of bright colors, which is … extensive. 😳 I used mostly colors from @baby.cat.yarns and they were perfect. This pattern has so many fun motifs, but those flamingos just called to me. 🦩🦩

Today is release day for the newest doodle pattern from @pacificknitco. So many cute valentine motifs to choose from! Love letters, sunglasses, heart mugs. But this time, I decided to repeat one simple design and I’m so happy with how it turned out. That’s the beauty of doodles — you can go crazy or keep it simple. There’s no wrong way! ❤️💘💌
