Brighton Pier to Pier 2026 Experience - “what a day”. 🌞 🌊 🏊 🐚 🎡

I was so stoked to take part in this one. It’s something I’ve always been interested in but never had the motivation, confidence or belief? to actually jump in the sea and swim from one pier to the other. This year was the 90th anniversary and with an Ironman 70.3 on my calendar, I thought I’d get involved. 🏊

The Brighton Swimming Club do an amazing job. The day was fantastically organised, safe and fun - not an easy achievement.

We drove down the day before and had a beautiful night away at Guesthouse No.124 with pizza, cocktails, sea views and sunsets.

On the morning I collected my pink swim cap and timing chip from Palace Pier, grabbed a coffee, stretched (while maintaining eye contact with the old pier of course), got my wetsuit half on and headed to the start.

There was a great atmosphere and everyone was super friendly. It was a hot day so lots of people weren’t wearing wetsuits, or like me kept them around their waist until the start. I had a quick dip in my wetsuit before we set off (IYKYK), then after the safety briefing we were called into pens in groups of 50. I was number 163, so fourth group in.

The route was easy to follow with yellow buoys lining the way, and safety boats and paddleboarders along the course, and one big orange buoy by the old pier before heading straight to Palace Pier. You swim under the pier through the timing finish, then about 450m back to shore where volunteers check your number, hand you a medal and you’re welcomed by a cheering crowd. Such a fun finish line.

The weather was great and the water was really flat, although there was quite a strong current to swim against. My chip time was 36 minutes and I was super happy with 12th in my category and 40th female.

If you’re considering this swim next year, I would 100% recommend it. 🌊🙌🏻🏁 p.s I wrote a longer than usual caption to help anyone else who wonders how the day goes - I struggled to find much info and hope this helps 🐠 🏊🏻‍♀️
