Lee Krishnan
is based in Mumbai and has a Masters Degrees in English (Middlebury College, USA), History (Mumbai University)
and a B.Ed (Mumbai University). She has 32 years of experience in the education sector. She has organised multiple writing workshops and conferences.

She was awarded the 2017 Parisar Asha Best Educator Award, and the 2017 NDTV Best English
Teacher Award, West Zone, the Betty Bailey Award at the Bread Loaf School of English, Middlebury College, USA, along with several awards from my organisation for Excellence,Innovative Projects etc. She won the Penguin-Hindustan Times short story competition in
2009 and was the Runner Up in the SPELT Intl short story writing competition in 2022.

Book Reading Session at Eastern Christian College:
Any book is a journey, a destination and a home to a reader. I was super excited to read few passages from my book "Becoming the Light" with a selected audience- book readers and book lovers! It was a perfect platform to share the process and experiences of writing the book with the students. The Q&A session was fire🔥. All the credit goes to the exceptional host, and the smart students of @easternchristiancollegedimapur

In a “clouded direction of culture” where people say that reading and writing is a dying art, this program reinstated hope that reading and writing can never be a dying art. In fact, books will continue to enrich our human experience, add expression to our emotions, mirror internal and external issues, broaden our perspectives and provide meaning and purpose to the story of life.

Becoming the light by Allan Aley
- The story imitates the real world if not mirrors it (Of Nagas)with something very new to discover, thoroughly set in this reimagined world of fantasy. (As the opening lines of the first chapter states clearly)
The plot doesn't stick around on extensive suspension or description but is structured on precise cut and execution.
It's definitely a potential variety to present something interesting of the world that is just in discovery, however as a reader and as much as it hyped me to understand what's going about, I kept on processing why the narration and structure of the plot was taken this road, and in my head, if only it had paced on revealing and presenting certain things with much more details.
There are many characters and interesting ones, that so much I wish they were more fleshed out.(no spoilers)
I definitely look forward with intrigue if the Author takes this story forward and how.

What a great privellege to be accompanied by this wonderful book as I was on my sick bed ....
I was so lost going through this for three days ....

The cutest reader award goes to Mr. Ato Ayemi. He can surely melt your heart. He is a retired Government officer, an avid reader and happens to be the oldest reader.

When I received these pictures I had tears of joy and gratitude. For a writer, when your book is read by readers it feels extra special. The reception by readers may differ from person to person but when you buy an author's book, write honest reviews and spread word about the book it can become the biggest source of encouragement and gratitude. More like a warm, tight hug. 😇

Make way for the new superhero in town!!

Such a wonderful, delightful little book to read! Full of fun, adventure and magical lands all wrapped up in insightful philosophical thoughts.

“..the face of the earth shook..”
The world suffered, chaos broke open, the cries were deafening, the world wailed, the air carried the scent of mourning & then the maddening silence.
Amidst the silence rose Molung from ashes & dust. Can he save his loved ones? Can he save the world? Can he find answers to questions & quests unknown? Can he restore the brokenness?

With a future that looks bleak, painted by the blood of ancestors can Molung break through the darkness to Becoming the Light..

What I loved about the book!!
-the authors humour
-the author’s personality shines through his narration
-those detailed descriptions in places
-all the philosophical thoughts wrapped up in humour ♥️!!
-the language is very simple & lucid to understand.

What didn’t work for me
-the length, I wish it was longer & full of descriptions but then again due to it’s short length I can always read it out to the little ones. So not really a con I guess.

*A Reception to "BECOMING THE LIGHT" by Allan Aley* @allanaley

Every one is a hero. But the redemption does not come easy. Tests await to reveal our superhero qualities and from it we are led to the path of self discovery and enlightenment.

In Aley 's novella, Molung Ki is the superhero. He rises to seek the light, aftermath of an apocalyptic wipeout of the entire population of the seven tribes of the Naga hills by an epidemic.
Being the chosen one, he seeks out to win the "sword of light" which comes with enduring the three tests of Endura, a powerful evil spirit. How does he overcome it then? From where does he get his super powers to defeat the evil forces at play? We find out as we read.....

The story line takes a linear narrative and is in a fast tempo, but pauses to look around and build up a cyclone of strong visual imageries, and interspersed are the Woozy creatures, zombies and fireflies. It builds up from a wide base setting, promising to lead towards a vast expanse of sub plots, but it decides to go just straight. It could have served for an epic odyssey novel, but Aley had retrenched it to a testimonial short story.The overall impact to me is just of the welterweight punch, but definitely it's a knockout!!
A style which teased my thoughts was......the setting being in the 18th century pre-Naga head-hunting days, but the dialogue of the protagonist has present-day utterings like, "but jokes apart", " pop up","how the hell".... Perhaps,it could be intentional on the part of the writer to clue us that it's we ourselves speaking. If yes, it works quite well.

The shortest love story happens in the last two pages where Molung Ki meets Ketholeno. The latter's name instantly made me visualize our own Naga supermodel and I'm fully heart assured that the Ketholeno of Kezie village too would be that beautiful!
