Curiosity is always welcome here. Here’s a peek at what weekly enrichment beyond the books looks like at Becoming. 🌿🔎

In our Science & Nature Study class, students are encouraged to slow down, observe, ask questions, explore, and discover more about the world around them through hands-on learning. There’s something special about giving kids the space to wonder then watching that wonder turn into discovery.

And through it all, we hope they develop an even deeper appreciation for the incredible world God created.

So, what exactly is Becoming?

We’re a Christ-centered homeschool enrichment collective created to come alongside families in their homeschool journey.

Each week, our students gather for hands-on classes and experiences that give them opportunities to create, explore new interests, build skills, and learn alongside friends. Parents remain their child’s primary educator. We’re simply here to add meaningful enrichment, new experiences, and connection to the journey you’re already creating at home.

No one way to homeschool. No perfect formula. Just more opportunities to learn, grow, connect, and become together.

A little peek into what learning looks like at Becoming. 🤎

We started with a special visit from comic book creator Victor Dandridge of @noblesvillecreates who shared his love for comics, his own work, and encouraged our students to see where creativity and storytelling can take them.

And from there, the learning continued throughout BHC creating, exploring, asking questions, trying new things, and learning alongside one another.

These little glimpses show what Becoming is all about: giving kids space to discover what interests them, grow in their gifts, and experience the joy of learning in community. We are so grateful for the people who pour into our students and for another beautiful day of learning together.

Hearing these joyful noises in our General Music Class is such a gift. Students are learning beginning rhythms, note reading on the staff, ear training, beginning keyboard skills, music history, different instruments, and so much more. You also got to peek inside a private music lesson that our students are blessed to sign up for throughout the semester.

And the best part? They get to learn it all within community. So thankful for our Learning Guides who share their gifts and create spaces like this for our kids to learn, explore, and grow.

Helping kids become… curious thinkers, confident creators, brave problem solvers, and kids who know their ideas matter. This is Makerspace.

Makerspace is an hands-on, creative class where students design, build, and explore through open-ended art and maker projects that encourage imagination, curiosity, and freedom. Each session invites children to experiment with various materials and bring their ideas to life.

There’s something so special about watching an idea in their head become something they can hold, then seeing them walk away beaming with pride because they made it real. That is priceless!

Lord, thank you for a beautiful and successful first day of Becoming. Thank you for every family, student, and Learning Guide you brought into this community. We are so grateful for the way you have provided and gone before us.

As we step into this semester, give us wisdom to lead well, hearts that continue to seek you, and the courage to follow your guidance in every decision. May we never forget that this is your community before it is ours. Continue to lead us, grow us, and use Becoming for your glory. Amen.

Sew It Begins! Our young makers had their very first Sewing class last week! They started by getting familiar with their sewing kits learning what each tool is, what it’s used for, and how to use it safely. They even learned how to thread their needles and got started on their very own sewing projects.

Each week, they’ll build on what they’ve learned and add to their projects, stitch by stitch. We’re so thankful our kids have the opportunity to learn this important life skill while also building patience, confidence, creativity, and the joy of making something with their own hands.

This is what Becoming is all about learning, creating, and becoming who God created them to be 🤎

Our first day was a success! We’re so grateful for the beautiful start to our semester. A special thank you to our first Careers & Community Helpers guest speaker, local home baker Yan Tao from @love.cakeable!

Yan stepped out of the kitchen and into our classroom to inspire our students through hands-on demonstrations, encouraging words, and her incredible artistic cakes. It was such a fun opportunity for our students to see how a passion and creative gift can become a career. Thank you, Yan, for sharing your time, talent, and story with our students!

Our Sewing class got to work! They prepped their sewing kits, learned the basics, and started working on their very own projects. We love seeing those little hands learning new skills and creating something they can be proud of!

Our STEM class took on the Q-tip Tower Challenge and really reached new heights!

Our Science & Nature Study class flew into learning about bees and the amazing pollination process.

Our Makerspace class began creating their own masterpieces using recycled materials and, of course, their imaginations.

In Thematics Sculpture Level 1, students learned about different types of leaves and then created leaves of their own.

Thematic Sculpture Level 2 read about God’s creations and chose something that inspired them and brought it to life.
