Vulnerability requires feeling safe which is why so many of us suffer in silence. 😶

We don’t feel safe to tell others what we’re going through. We look at others and assume because they aren’t falling apart, that they are not suffering.

In keeping our pain and suffering inside, we alienate others from connecting with us which only promotes further disconnection and loneliness.

On this episode of The Laura Show, Sam Hewit shares her “ah ha” moment. Although she had been vulnerable in private to a handful of girlfriends, it was being vulnerable in public that was going to actually create impact. Opening up about her fears, her decisions, and her “failures” allowed other people to see that they are not alone.

I definitely don’t have all of the answers, but one thing I am learning is that opening myself up to the world has helped me remove the armour; it’s helped me come to peace with my short-comings and this in turn has allowed me to live a more confident and peaceful existance.

So I ask you, is there one thing you should share with one person today that although leaves you open, may actually help that person with their own suffering or at the very least, help you with yours? 💛💛💛💛

Becoming Her is hands down the best conference that I’ve been and trust me, as a real estate agent, I’ve been to a lot of conferences.

The whole notion of a conference dedicated to women in business but that touches on all of hardships, obstacles and uncertainties that women face both professionally and personally gives an incredible sense of belongingness.

“Becoming Her” was named so because as humans, we are always on the journey, there is no finish line, we are consistenty in the process of becoming the next version of ourselves.

So although I’d love to think that this time next year I’ll have it all figured out and I’ll finally be the person I had imagined, the truth is, I’ll be still evolving, still driving, still on my path to becoming the next Laura, and the next and the next.

Big shout out to @sam_hewit_ for founding this incredible community @becomingherto and for shedding a light on topics that are so critical to the female journey.

By far, this was my most candid and honest episode to date.

Speaker, mentor, mother and now dinvorce, Sam Hewitt, openly shares the struggles she faced in her marriage, what led her to make one of the most difficult decisions to date, the ugly aftermath of divorce, and most importantly, how this experience launched a new opportunity.

Sam talks about how she knew it was time to let go, the fears she had for herself and for her children and why opening up about this topic was not only important to her, but also necessary.
