Two rookies, one glacier and zero regrets. Me and @mrdyne exploring the biggest Glacier in France: Mer De Glace. Walking over ice that’s hundreds and even thousands years old. Exploring giant Ice Walls, hopping over meters deep crevasses and even rapelling down Ice waterfalls. Otherworldly experience. Two day kayak trip in Wallonia, southern Belgium. 50km on the water, exploring the Semois river. Very interesting way of travelling, seeing and experiencing nature and infrastructure from a totally different perspective.Being swept away by the current, Looking for a campspot, Grilling meat on the Campfire, Building a Tarp shelter, Heavy rain & Thunderstorm, Exploring A river Cave.. Overnighter somewhere in the Mountains Climbing +1500m in elevation 8 hours long. Fighting bushes, exposed terrain and crossing fresh avalanche debris. Watching the sun set and light up the Sahara Dust that infiltrated the alps due to Southwest wind conditions. So tired and happy when we finally reached the bivouac hut in the dark (which was filled to the brim with 14 anti-tourist swiss locals..) Waited for them to leave early in the morning. Then it was just us and the mountains. The sun beaming down. An insane 360 view. And then came the fun part. After our breakfast (dried food in a bag) we skied down the icy snow, over and around avalanche debris. Ice Cave ExplorationIt took us way longer to find this ice cave than expected, mainly because we took a wrong turn and had to plow through deep snow up a steep hill to reach the right path again. Nonetheless, we had a great time exploring this desolate valley, but we had to be quick because the sun was already setting and we were losing light every minute.We arrived at the ice cave at the edge of a glacier and watched the last light fade away on the mountain ridge above us. With the sun gone, the cold set in. I could not take off my gloves for long, so I had to be quick and mindful when operating my cameras. Even my Leica thought it was too cold, hence the strange dark-to-light gradient in some photos.Such a beautiful and magical place to explore—solid blue ice standing tall above us, forming organic, flowing shapes and cracks. Once in a while, the glacier made a loud noise, reminding us not to linger too long inside its belly. (Because a 3ton Ice Boulder can break of randomly and crush you). So it’s time and we made our way back down the mountain in the dark. Our ambassador Maxim and his climbing partner set out to conquer the Pointe de Chevasse: a modest peak on paper, yet a true challenge in February with its 2000 m altitude. Through untouched snow, without trails or markings, they made their own path.Halfway up, the weather turned. A complete white-out swallowed the landscape: no horizon, no depth, just white and wind. Still, they pushed on, reaching the summit and pitching their Nordisk Telemark 2.2 tent at 2012 m. Not exactly designed for alpine storms, yet it stood strong through the freezing night.When dawn finally broke, the world transformed. As they unzipped the tent, a sea of clouds stretched beneath them.
