Some selects from the American Folk Art Museum’s Infinite Variety show in NYC (2011).

Featured 653 red and white quilts from the private collection of Joanna Rose. The show was a gift from her husband to celebrate her 80th birthday. And she insisted it be free to the public as her gift to New York City.

The exhibit design was inspired by the playing cards flying through the air in Alice in Wonderland. 😮‍💨 by @bed_crumbss

Spent the weekend at the @lamqg retreat! I learned so so much in just two days from these ladies. Thanks for making it all feel like a big cozy hug 🫶

Oh and special thanks to my table mate for the emotional support/advice after spending half of a day working on a piece that… wasn’t working 😅 but I got there in the end and was proud of the progress I made on my quilt~ by @bed_crumbss

Circus | Hortense Beck, 1994. In 1905, Ladies Home Journal hired artists to develop appliqué designs for the magazine. Maxfield Parrish, a painter, designed the Circus Bedquilt for the project (slide 2). The general sentiment was that these deigns were too difficult to recreate, but Hortense Beck made hers and it is GLORIOUS! by @bed_crumbss
