We’re extremely proud to announce that @bedowdesign received the Henry Steiner Award by the Museum of Avant-garde last month!

Museum of Avant-garde is a new Swiss design and art museum opening in 2025 and are now collecting work from around the world for their permanent collection. This year the legendary Austrian designer Henry Steiner was on the jury and picked 130 works – and among them: three winners.

Three of our projects were chosen for their permanent avant-garde collection – Transparent’s logotype, Daniel Jensen’s book Current Events and the Swee Kombucha packaging design – where the latter was one of only three selected winners this year. To have our work judged and awarded by Mr Steiner feels extremely flattering.

A Century of Sporty Types

Most athletes dream of seeing their names in the papers. But when Bragdguldet – Sweden’s most prestigious sports award, founded by Svenska Dagbladet – turned 100, the Swedish postal service PostNord chose a different stage. Five athletes who have won the award twice were honored, not in bronze, but on something both everyday and unexpected: the postage stamp. And honestly – who wouldn’t want to send a love letter with their favorite athlete, drawn entirely in type?

01. Insight
For a century, the Bragdguldet award has celebrated athletes who have fought their way back from difficult and precarious situations. Founded and run by the Swedish newspaper Svenska Dagbladet, it is considered the most prestigious honor a Swedish athlete can receive. To mark its 100th anniversary, the Swedish postal service PostNord commissioned a series of postage stamps, accompanied by bonus materials for the true enthusiasts – the philatelists.

02. Concept
An award with a legacy like Bragdguldet deserved a design that honored both its long history and the athletes it celebrates. Only a select few have received the award twice: Björn Borg, Ingemar Stenmark, Anja Pärson, Sarah Sjöström, and most recently Armand Duplantis. To unite the worlds of sports and journalism, each athlete was portrayed using nothing but letters.

03. Solution
A stamp is a tiny canvas, which meant the design had to be distilled to the very essence of each athlete. The challenge was to capture their most iconic movements – and render them entirely in typography. More specifically, the very letters taken from the newspaper announcing their victories, turning the design into a journey through a century of typographic history. The final series of stamps is accompanied by exclusive bonus material created for the most dedicated collectors.

New work – A Lovely Atmosphere for @gbgtbox

The primary function of a box is to shield its precious contents from outer harm. At GBGT Box, this functionality is elevated to an art-form while keeping a strong focus on sustainability. 'A Lovely Atmosphere' is a nested collection of five premium boxes – a metaphor for the Earth's atmospheric layers – that not only communicates the sustainable approach of GBGT Box but also showcases their exceptional craftsmanship.

GBGT Box specialises in climate-smart, functional packaging for the premium sector, creating boxes that protect products, excite consumers, and reaffirm sustainable brand values. Few in the packaging industry communicate the impact of their products on the planet, but GBGT Box is determined to change the industry standard by explaining the carbon footprint of its boxes.

Without the fine balance of its five atmospheric layers, Earth would be nothing more than another rock floating in space. Thanks to its 'lovely atmosphere', it sustains all sorts of incredible life. Just as the atmosphere protects life on Earth, so a box shields its contents from harm. With their low-impact materials and construction, GBGT Box goes one step further, protecting life on Earth, too while producing premium crafted packaging.

To celebrate GBGT Box's commitment to sustainability 'A Lovely Atmosphere' is both a catalogue of the brand's materials and techniques and an object that honours the fragility of our planet. Its five nested boxes act like a matryoshka, with each layer detailing the unique qualities of the exosphere, thermosphere, mesosphere, stratosphere, and troposphere through five unique artworks.

Inside the final box lies a precious gift, a Ginkgo seed, which recipients can plant to contribute to a lovely atmosphere.

Grab a bag!

(edit) Winners, please dm your addresses and we’ll ship the bags: @augustafeldtman @parentheses_books valentinbauberger @uuultramagnus @textorius (/edit)

Our most award-winning design project in recent years is without a doubt the five Swedish stamps featuring Björn Borg, Ingemar Stenmark, Anja Pärson, Sarah Sjöström and Armand Duplantis. This spring, the project received design awards from the Art Directors Club, D&AD, The One Show, Type Directors Club in Tokyo and the Type Directors Club in New York.

Alongside the release of the stamps last autumn, we printed a very limited number of tote bags featuring each design — and now they could be yours. We’re giving away five tote bags, one featuring each athlete. Like and comment with an emoji representing your favourite athlete. We’ll draw the five winners on Monday, June 1, and then contact all winners for shipping details. Free shipping worldwide.

Sweden has a long history of innovation. Perhaps it is our strong welfare system that has encouraged companies to invest in new ideas. Or maybe it is simply our cold climate that has forced us to be a bit more inventive to keep up with the rest of you. Either way, @postnord_sverige aims to highlight Sweden’s innovative spirit with a series of stamps featuring five very different innovations: the pacemaker, solar-purified water, telecommunications, digital music streaming, and shared parental leave. So what do they have in common? They all make waves – from our small, slightly frozen corner of the world to the rest of it.

01. Insight
PostNord’s new stamp series showcases five Swedish innovations: the pacemaker, solar-purified water, telecommunications, digital music streaming, and shared parental leave. The stamps required a simple visual language that could represent a series of five very different motifs, while still being intricate enough for each stamp to function as a standalone piece on an envelope.

02. Concept
What connects the five innovations is that they all, in one way or another, send signals out into the world. Whether it’s a telephone exchange that literally transmits signals, or shared parental leave making waves in society, the idea remains the same. The project was therefore named Making Waves, and a wave-based illustration style was developed to represent the different innovations.

03. Solution
The limited surface area of the stamp required the motifs to be simple, yet sufficiently figurative to clearly distinguish the five innovations. The execution of the line-based illustrations conveys waves, and a total of nine different colors are used to print the five motifs. The result is a cohesive series of five stamps, where each motif must interact with the others while also being able to stand on its own. taken in Stockholm, Sweden by @bedowdesign

New work – Making Waves for @postnord_sverige @svenskafrimarken

For centuries, Sweden has been a country of innovation. From engineering breakthroughs like the implantable pacemaker to social innovations such as shared parental leave. To highlight this strong legacy, the Swedish postal service PostNord has released a series of five international stamps, each depicting a Swedish innovation that has made waves far beyond our borders.

The challenge for our designers was to find a common visual language for five innovations that are more or less abstract. The solution was to zoom out – finding a coherent language that could encapsulate them all – and then zoom back in, adding small figurative details that hint at each specific innovation.

Designed to travel far.

💥New work – Honest Packaging for @gbgtbox !

As some of you might know, writing is a in important tool in our process. It’s about dressing the words in a fitting attire that is relevant both to the client and their customers. At the same time, we seize the opportunity to entertain—because that’s how a brand becomes not only relevant but also memorable. What we write, we often refer to as a brand narrative, and for GBGT Box, it took over a year to complete.
First came A Lovely Atmosphere, which explains why GBGT Box does what they do. And now, the narrative is completed with its sequel, Honest Packaging. Together, they form Honest Packaging for a Lovely Atmosphere. By using this brand narrative as a foundation, the design may not feel like a walk in the park, but at least it’s like having a map while hiking through the forest.
