ANTTI TURKKO, artist for BEDS.Kaunas 2025!

Antti Turkko (Finland, 1980) is a visual artist and architect working with installation, sculpture, space and situations. His interest lies in the ways and narratives through which space is experienced and produced – and consumed. Turkko's works combine sculpture, painting, architectural elements, video and text. They act as a kind of a condition which consists of material and thought, observation and speculation, and fiction and fact – entities that have taken the form of an exhibition are born in relation to their location, on the one hand they create a new space and simultaneously communicate permanence and fleeting, presence and absence. Turkko's works have been lately seen for example in HAM gallery (Helsinki Art Museum), SIC gallery (Helsinki), Sandstorm environmental art exhibition (Pori) and Salon de Normandy by the Community (Paris).

TUĞBA VAROL is one of the artists of BEDS.Kaunas 2025!

Tuğba Varol (France, 1993) graduated from the institute of fine art of Besançon (France) in 2017. She is a transdisciplinary artist who explores the intersections between anthropology and contemporary technologies. Her research focuses on pictorial sacralization, cultural archetypes and mental images, revisited in the light of the socio-cultural transformations of the digital age. By diverting technical devices from their original purpose, she creates installations that require visitors to adopt an active posture, seeking out their own position in space, in order to establish intimate contact with the organ of the imagination. Her work has been presented at various art centers and contemporary art fairs, such as the Independent Art Fair Platforms Project (GR), Istanbul Photography Festival 2016 (TR), Le Granit (FR), Beton7 Arts Center (GR), Maison Victor Hugo (FR), and the Excentricité Performance Festival (FR).
From 2017 to 2021 she co-founded and runs, with artist Adrien Chevrier, the independent art space Come alone in Athens, Greece. Simultaneously a place for visual/sound experimentation and multimedia events, the space was conceived as a living work in collaboration with international artists.

Antti-Juhani Manninen (Finland, 1977) is a multi-disciplinary artist, working mainly with sound and live performance. He works with wide range of artists from different fields of art: visual artists, dancers, actors and puppeteers. Manninen has lately been interested in the absurdity of human behavior and modern condition, the unheimlich, intensified reality, performer’s presence and absence. He designs and performs pieces that investigate the unavoidable essentials of performing and the stage, the possibilities of performing, use of text in performance, questions of dissociation and alienation, care and empathy. His works have lately been seen for example at Salon de Normandy by The Community (Paris), Performensk (Minsk), Art Lab Gnesta, Spectaculo Intresse (Ostrava), Nordic Performing Arts Days (Odense), Helsinki Festival, Tampere Theatre Festival, Kiasma museum of contemporary art (Helsinki), Mad House (Helsinki) and Tallinn Teater Treff.

The focus this year is to further explore the integrated form of performance and installation, that in past editions has already shown its quality in bringing forth new artistic language while maintaining the autonomy and completeness of each work.
The thematic direction for this edition addresses the relationships of closeness between absolute and relative vision, between impossibility and perfection.

LUCIA BRICCO, artist for BEDS.Kaunas 2025

Lucia Bricco (Italy,1988) is an Italian artist currently living in Rome. From 2018 to 2022 she lives and works in Athens (GR). She studied fine arts at the academies of Turin, Madrid and Rome.

She uses surprise as a revealing element of deeper or higher knowledge.
Her work focus in the fragmentation, repetition, and precariousness of the elements inherent to human existence.
Since 2020 she has co-founded the artistic platform BEDS, a collective and changing body of artists that promotes forms, combinations, and different levels of international collaboration by adopting an open and non-hierarchical organisational model that places performance art at its center.
