円相 | “Enso”: Tokyo’s Rave Rock Renegades Launch Debut EP

GATA favourites bed [@bedsleepwell] have slowly been building something substantial in the Tokyo underground music scene over the past few years. Their annual show bedroom, an ear-throbbing spectacle of noise and debauchery, has established itself as one of the must attend events in the capital with many of the city’s most cutting edge DJs and bands vying for a spot on the lineup.

With their debut EP 円相 | “Enso”, the band have seemingly realised their potential, graduating from just another post-punk band in the vein of Joy Division or The Fall to an act that is quickly turning heads overseas in countries such as the UK and Thailand. Fan favourite tracks like ‘Kaze’ and ‘Bo’ make the cut on the EP pushing a more atmospheric and electronic sound that moves away from the frenetic bass and drums of breakout single ‘Kare Wa’, while still delivering a sonic punch that will have listeners reeling away in uneasy ecstasy.

Our personal highlight from the EP lies in the final track ‘Rin’ which sees an evolution in the band’s song writing ability. With many of their past songs revolving around singular ideas and hooks that, while simple in concept, were always executed in interesting and experimental ways, ‘Rin’ feels like a watershed moment. A more mature entry in the discography of a band that seems to have grown in confidence in their own sound. We feel like this is only the beginning for this ambitious group.

‘Enso’ is available to stream and purchase on vinyl now. Be sure to check out the band’s official instagram for more details and swipe across to check out exclusive behind the scenes photos shot in Bangkok during the making of ‘Enso’s’ music video.

As we keep moving forward towards what's next, it's strange to realise these recording moments already feel like memories from another lifetime.

But right now, it's time to celebrate this release.

Zach was the first producer we ever worked with, and the whole process of creating and recording with him felt completely new to us.

Some songs were built slowly over a long period of time, just between the members.
Others came together in only a few hours from spontaneous jams.

10 days in October, 2025.
