Bringing a little piece of New Zealand Aotearoa into the studio today. 🇳🇿❤️

This is a special piece from my new series, Home—a collection close to my heart 🏡

Instead of the usual summer bloom, I wanted to capture our iconic pōhutukawa leaf in a whole new light. I layered rich crimson, burgundy, and mossy greens with thick acrylic impasto, giving it a heavy texture that feels alive against that deep Pacific blue. 🌊✨

It’s completely finished in this rustic, white-washed frame and ready for its forever wall. 🏡

DM me for details if you'd love to make this piece yours!

The first painting in my collection : Home 🏡 ❤️

New Zealand has been home to me for the past 10 years.

One of New Zealand’s most iconic trees is the pōhutukawa, also known as the New Zealand Christmas tree, because it blooms with beautiful red flowers around Christmas time.

This textured painting captures one of its beautiful leaves, with its bold red and green colours against a bright blue background. Just like New Zealand, it’s full of strong colours and beautiful details inspired by nature. 🌿❤️

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about what it actually means to belong somewhere. This piece is part of a new series I'm working on called Home. I've lived in 3 countries. 🌍 For me, home isn't a single dot on a map—it’s a collection of memories scattered across three different corners of the world.

It’s a beautiful thing to leave a piece of your heart in so many places at once, and I'm loving watching those layers find their way onto the canvas. 🏠💙🎨

It’s been more than two years since I started this painting.
Maybe if I had painted it two years ago, the colours and the feeling of it would have been very different.

I think every painting is a reflection of the person who creates it — a reflection of their feelings, thoughts, and the moment they are in. 🎨

When you let the music guide your brush... 🎶🖌️From rhythmic lines to vibrant layers of acrylic paint and textured details.
Can you spot the tiny heart? 😉

When I was a teenager, I had an art teacher who valued and encouraged creativity. This was one of our favorite practices: listening to a song, drawing lines on a blank page with eyes closed. Then open your eyes and try to find shapes ! Isn't that cool? I'm trying it on a canvas this time!

What I had in my mind when starting this one was so different from what it turned out!
It was supposed to be a forest! That's right, a forest 🌳🍂
It might have been a beautiful little forest painting but I think I prefer this one.
What do you think? Let me know. 👇 taken in Auckland, New Zealand by @bee.paintings

Starting this one , what I had in mind was a blue background and autumn trees and leaves but I guess the canvas and brushes had a different idea!
I'm loving it! It's so different from my usual painting style!
