Happy NAIDOC to all you beautiful mob! 🖤💛❤️

This years theme is HEAL COUNTRY! And that’s what we need to do. Indigenous people don’t own the land, the land owns us. Country/ land is mother, the giver of life. Western culture takes so much from her and this week, and in time to come, we need to give back to her! Love her and show her we’re worthy of being her caretakers! 🌴🌿🌏

What can you do for NAIDOC?
1. Learn what traditional land/ country you’re on. The people and the language group.
2. (If you can) Go to a NAIDOC event this week and immerse yourself in the worlds oldest living culture
3. Simply follow Black mob: artists, activists, musicians, poets, creators of all sorts (they’re all over insta and Tic Tok), brands/companies, sporting legends and more on the social to show your support and love! #buyblack

3 years ago today I went on the best last date and met my forever. 🖤

#tbt I don’t post much these days but the Winter Solstice bonfire at the ranch was the best! Biggest bonfire with mates. Lou, I and a few other beautiful mates were the wallflowers attracting all sorts into our corner (we the cool kids!) 🔥🖤🕺🏽
I was the fire attendant flipping massive iron bark trunks (like a total boss bitch! 💪🏾) I may have lost my phone in the fire but had beautiful friends retrieved it the next day lol! Like a Pheonix from the ashes grow the roses of success!

Uncle Tom Powell is a legend! 🖤 I’m pretty sure he saved me from myself in my early 20s. His organisation Red Dust Healing has healed myself and so many others, his heart still gives me strength. It has been years since I’ve seen him (but he still calls or txt me for my bday every year) it was a great day running into him at the first Mogo Festival last week! 🖤💛❤️
Lou, Gadu and I enjoyed a great concert, feed and community day... then I ran into Uncle Tom and my heart just filled with joy! Thank you for making my day Uncle Tom xx

#tbt working with @k_klau_wood_art @kimberly_klau and @squizatis on some amazing salvaged wood burls; chain sawing and carving them into beautiful, unique bowls! 😱💪🏾 On my beautiful grandfather country, nothing stolen but all salvaged wood! 🖤💛❤️#respect

Much like a coolamon but whitefella ornamental styles; I’m totally loving learning how to work the timber into something inspirational we see in the wood itself! Each piece of salvaged wood presents a new story, a new piece of work! And I’m loving working with Kim and all my new friends/ chosen fams on the South Coast, my home country!

It’s been hard since my family moved to Canberra, Sydney isn’t the same!
I’m so glad Lou and I have our South Coast pad to be an awesome ocean escape for Charlie and my family! Praying we can get some family time in down south before the cold takes over!

Instead of a day of mourning and respect for our survival, today, many of my light skin brethren you have celebrated:
•racism and discrimination
•genocide
•rape and murder
•stolen children, lands, language and culture
•ongoing hurt and suffering
•systematic racism
•and much more!

The hurt never ends. The pain never goes. The echoes and suffering of our ancestors are heard through our people’s tears and words, still today, yes! Listen and you may learn something!
