Beekeeping in France is more difficult with the Asian hornet! This "electric fence" is meant to catch the larger insect while honeybees can fly between the wires. It's not bears, but hornets who eat bees in France! It's called an electric harp because the wires stretched tight resemble a harp. I learned from the @rucher.ecole.bearn.gelos
how to build the trap. It's very effective, thank you!

Every year we dress up like bees and celebrate pollinators in the Bee Boulder Festival! It was fun for all ages! I have had so much joy and learning over these past 11 years with this group of women @beechicas ! Thank yous, Theresa, Deborah, and Cynthia!!! by @beefarmgirl

The whale and strawberry are in progress and I'll enjoy taking my time to finish them while dreaming up other wood projects, like a mallet and spoons. I've been thinking of a whale shelf or cabinet of curiosities since I saw Sylvie Rosenthal 's whale sculpture 4 years ago (however, hers is a different species;-) and remembered Joseph Campbell's "belly of the whale" in a hero's journey. Here are some other works made by students, instructor Sylvie Rosenthal, and assistant Caroline Branch at the Penland School of Craft. I love the puppet and drawer made by Katrina, and the baby fruit by Caroline, the Papaya Dentata by Sylvie and all of the hybrid objects made in the last two weeks. Thank you, Sylvie, Caroline, and Kylie!

I wanted to share this wonderful experience at the Penland School of Craft in North Carolina where I learned to carve with chain saws, grinders, chisels and gouges from Sylvie Rosenthal. Two weeks of woodworking in the Blue Ridge Mountains. We could use whatever tools we wanted in this well equipped wood studio! The spoke shave was my favorite tool and the triceratops is Sylvie's latest sculpture. The moths and fireflies were wondrous and humid heat unbearable! I hope to return someday or send Noelle🔨🔨📐

Bonjour from France! We took a gin class and are eating our way around the boulangerie's of Paris in search of delicious croissant. Here's a few photos from beautiful and bustling Paris. #maisonisabelle had the tastiest croissant! by @beefarmgirl

Happy Solstice and Merry Yule! This is a time to celebrate each other and all living creatures. We are keeping the bird feeders full, planting for the bees, and doing our best to tread lightly on the planet. I'm also enjoying my last days at invent HQ before I join Eric for some traveling and living abroad and continuing my passion for healthy bees + planet, besides helping people make stuff. XOXO

The Sugarloaf Fire Dept Craft fair, a favorite time of year, is this SATURDAY, NOV 2! There will be 25 fantastic artisans, some new and returning, bake sale and silent auction to benefit our all volunteer fire dept! Noelle is busy preparing chocolate truffles and mushroom dioramas and I am making beeswax candles and creamed honey (lavender infused and cinnamon honey), besides skin salves and a few journals. We hope to see you! LOWER FIRE STATION ON SUGARLOAF ROAD 10 - 4PM. by @beefarmgirl

Happy birthday to the kindest and sexiest man on Earth, Eric! I still can't keep up with him biking or hiking! À votre santé! by @beefarmgirl

These mushroom lovers are the friendliest people we met in France! The picnic after the foray and identification lasted 2 hours. Notice the wine bottles, quiche, cheese, portable tables and chairs, and someone even made tiramisu. No one would eat the cheese we brought until after the main course, and no sweets until after the cheese, but wine all throughout, then a digestif plum liquor someone made. Tout à la bonne heure! The last 3 photos are all edible delicious mushrooms... porcini, chanterelles, pied de mouton, and others that were new to us. We are having a grand time in France!

Noelle is working on her portfolio for university applications! I'm so glad she is choosing to study art and follow her passion. This is a painting and ring that she made for the Sugarloaf craft fair (she has some for sale on her Etsy account!). The costume was designed and sewn by her from a curtain, sheet, and old leather jacket! ♥️🤓
