Helllooooo Ultra Nationals!

Where to even begin with the meet recap…

Mostly I am just incredibly grateful and proud. I’ve been experiencing the hardest few months of my life personally. In the last 4 months alone I’ve experienced: injury that had me unable to lift my own kids, to deployments, to solo parenting for months on end, to redeployment and the trauma that comes from it, to illness that’s lasted a month and half…

But powerlifting has remained.

I signed up for Nats 5 weeks ago coming off of a local meet. It had been 10 years since I stepped on the National Stage and over 2 since I had competed last. I mostly wanted to prove to myself that no matter how hard life got, that I can show up for myself through it all.

This wasn’t my best meet. By any stretch of the imagination. The two lifts I missed were lifts that I’ve done many times and I knew I could execute but made silly mistakes. But still I showed up, gave my best energy and effort, and proved that after 12 years with @uspapower, I can still hang with the best.

SQUAT:
320lbs/145kg

BENCH:
165lbs/75kg

DEADLIFT:
348lbs/157.5kg

To @uspapower, @uspa_georgia, @uspa.alabama for always providing athletes with the best experience and genuinely pouring love back into us.

To the spotters and judges: I NORMALLY GIVE EVERYONE FIST BUMPS AND SAY THANK YOU AFTER MY LAST ATTEMPT AND I DIDNT AND NOW I CANNOT STOP THINKING ABOUT IT. Thank you thank you thank you!!!!!!!!

To my fellow lifters yesterday: I’m so proud of you. It was such an honor to lift with you and hear your stories. You are the women the world needs. 🫶

Best friend appreciation post.

How lucky the world is to have Kait. But selfishly how freaking lucky am I? She started as my disabled daughter’s physical therapist, turned into mom friend hang outs from time to time, turned into “hey we have a similar taste in music”, turned into she’s the person I call when life falls apart. Shes who will always show up for me in any state I am in. She literally just sees me as the person I am doesn’t flinch or shy away. Doesn’t ask me to be anything different.

She told me to sign up for Nationals and just told me regardless of cost, distance, how long it takes to get there or when, she’d be there. She didn’t know a THING about powerlifting until April and has dove head first as “coach good vibes” (aka she doesn’t know what’s going on half the time but she holds my smelling salts for me).

So grateful for the person who has literally carried me through this year. by @beefbuffbekah

For the plot. 😈

I’ve always considered myself naturally better at conventional, however a string of injuries made it so I could barely walk after pulling conventional.

BUT BABY WE ARE SO BACK.
