Just drawing a tortoise pet commission! Thought you’d like to see my very sped up process. I don’t always like to share my art as I’m working on it. I get self-conscious and all that. I’m pretty proud of this piece, though. I think this is the first realistic tortoise I’ve ever drawn. It was challenging, but fun! 🐢

I’ve been working on my editorial illustration skills. I found an article about macaques in Gibraltar eating soil after consuming human junk food. It’s thought that they do this to sooth their upset stomachs or to supplement for the lack of nutrients. So, I thought it would be funny to draw a waiter macaque offering a mud “digestif” to another macaque, since digestifs are traditionally used after meals to aid in digestion.

I kept thinking about this before I fell asleep the other night- so ,of course I had to draw it. The last time I was in France, I noticed that “French onion soup” was just called “onion soup” on the menus. I never really thought about why Americans put the French in front, as if it somehow changes the fact that it’s just onion soup. So, my thought was what would it look like if the soup was really French? Et voilà!

Ok I know I’ve done a fast food pattern before, but that was yeeeeeaaaars ago when I really didn’t know what I was doing. I still don’t know what I’m doing, but I think this pattern is cute. It’s also making me hungry.

Trying patterns (again). I really like this one, and I’m almost positive I will be making some wrapping paper with it! Let me know if you spot the secret message 😉

I saw a photo of an adorable viscacha (a rodent from Peru), and felt the need to draw one. They look perpetually exhausted, which I can very much relate to.
I haven’t decided what book it was reading… any suggestions?

Just a little drawing. Still wondering if it’s going to be a card….maybe.

They have arrived! After a much needed break, I’m dipping my little tootsies back into the greeting card game! However, I will only be selling them @songbird_boutique in Long Beach for now. I love supporting my local shops, and also not dealing the post office and all those dang fees online. Let’s keep it simple! More cards will be rolling out in the near future, but I’m taking my time so I don’t get burnt out again! Thank you for stickin’ with me! 💖

Experimenting with color and some Pennsylvania Dutch folk art. Gotta take a risograph class now!

Experimenting while updating some older artwork of mine. I originally made these icons super basic, but I decided to just see what they would look like with some more detail.
I’m still working on my pattern making skills, but this is what I have for today.
