One of my obsessions is chasing these fish.

It is hard work but worth every cast and muscle ache 😅😅🎣🎣🏆

Hunting these fish takes time and patience,

You need a good setup with heavy terminals. Otherwise, they will teach you a lesson 😤🎬 !!!

Throwback to my PB GT
I will never forget this day !!!
Follow my journey as I will post a GT photo every day about all the GTs I've caught to date with a small story to describe the day it happened.

I'll be doing it in loving memory of our beloved @john_dercksen who taught me a lot off what I know today.

This fish was caught on my last cast on low tide. We saw baitfish (garr fish ) jumping, and i called it "last cast " while my Stickbait was travelling in the air on its way to where the baitfish jumped. I started with my sweeping, and on the 3rd or 4th sweep I saw a white explosion at my Stickbait. I knew it was "on" from the get go. We managed to guide the fish out to deep water away from any reef, then we knew the fight was halfway there. The fight continued, and on 18 minutes, we landed this beautiful fish.

18-pounder & 19-pounder!

After me and my fiancée’s trip on Sunday, two of my good mates asked me to take them for a yellowfish session.

And what a day it turned into!

First cast, I managed a decent smallie, and on my third cast I hooked an 18-pounder. We landed her, took a few photos, and about 30 minutes later, while going upstream, I spotted a massive largie cruising about 6 yards from the boat.

I cast twice, but she refused my fly. I told Conrad to keep casting into the same area. On his fourth cast, the fish ate!

At first we thought it was a small fish, but when it came up, we realised it was an absolute monster. It was Conrad’s first big largie, and when we landed it, we couldn’t believe the size. I guessed 20 pounds… but she weighed 19 pounds!

It was only 11:26 and we already had two massive fish!

@marcelss10 was fishing with my Nitro rod and a few flies and nymphs. It was his first time fly fishing for yellows, and he had a blast. He managed four species — big smallies, carp, mudfish and barbel.

So happy for both my mates. @beertjie1995 with a PB largie and @marcelss10 Marcel with his first yellows on fly.

That’s what it’s all about.

I still remember my first largie trip with my mentor and good friend @marius_straightstick , who taught me so much about yellowfish. I’ll always be grateful to him. He once told me:

“It’s not about you, but who you are fishing with.”

And that couldn’t be more true. These moments with good friends are priceless and memories like these last forever.

Special thanks to Airflo — the Power Taper and 4 Seasons line did the job again! by @beertjie1995

A few days well spent on the water, fishing with good buddies, rewarded with some good fish and a few rod-bending moments. Doesn’t get much better for the soul. by @beertjie1995
