As someone who grew up watching Test cricket then getting the chance to play I cannot tell you how special it was to see the first ever women’s Test being played at Lords. 50 years after the first women’s ODI.

In these moments we think of the late great Baroness Rachel Heyhoe-Flint. Who was instrumental in creating the first ever Cricket World Cup (for men and women), and campaigning for years to allow women to have access and membership to the Long Room.

After 199 years, we had the first women’s match at Lords and over 200 years for the first female members to have access to the Long Room and the first ever women’s Test. Let’s not wait so long next time.

For the former players and all those that went before, who paved the way for the women’s game, we salute you.
To have India as first opposition was also super special. So happy for @krantigaud, @yastikabhatia getting their names on the honours board. For @soph_ecclestone99 hopefully theres many more to come.

And as two greats of cricket retired we had a moment to celebrate in the dressing room and on the field before Sachin appeared to wish his best.

The best touch of all was the Indian women’s team coming to wish them well and share in the moment of being part of history at Lords.

And at the start of the week, over 50 past players congregating in the pavilion - many stories, emotion and connection.

It’s hard to put into words what this last week has meant at a place I feel so connected to.
