Reflecting on a year ago, this time, when my lifetime love (Anthony) and I said our proverbial "I dos" on Juneteenth surrounded by some of our closest family and friends. We are still in complete awe of the magic sparked on this special day, which was all made possible because of our amazing village. Our dream of having a Juneteenth wedding, celebrating our love and endearing love of our community, was fully realized on this day. We all know that wedding season is an incredible time for love, but it is also an important time for economic uplift and prosperity. Celebrating our Black love on Juneteenth brought us immense joy. Doing so, while also honoring and platforming Black-owned (and Black-adjacent) small businesses, made the moment that much sweeter!!!

So much has been said about the man and the music that touched an entire generation, since his unfortunate passing. I imagine the memories, testimonies, stories, renditions, gratitude, love and heartfelt condolences will continue to pour in as we collectively grieve this loss. An incredibly unique talent. A gift like no other. Genius personified. Still trying to wrap my head around this. Praying for peace, love, comfort and healing for his family and friends. March has always held a special place in my heart. Why? Because two of the most important men in my life entered the world at opposite ends of this month. My beloved father, born on today, March 31st & My dearest Anthony, born earlier this month, on March 1st. I am so so so incredibly grateful for having both of you in my life - the abundance of love & care will always be cherished. Celebrating you, always - past, present and throughout eternity. With just a few hours left to catch this exhibit, I recommend this as the perfect way to spend a snowy Sunday afternoon indoors. An EPIC celebration and exploration of Alvin Ailey's brilliant works as dancer, choreographer, visionary, activist and collaborator. From legends like Katherine Dunham, Geoffrey Holder, Carmen de Lavallade, Pearl Primus, Lester Horton to the late great Judith Jamison, and more, Ailey's framework and style can fully be appreciated. A true visionary! The archival footage alone is worthy of the deep dive (I got lost in this for hours)! But enough can't be said about the bold imagery and looping soundtrack on full display surrounding the entire exhibit - incredible and deeply moving (especially if you have limited time). ♥️🙌🏿♥️
