Today #SupremeTeam premieres at @tribeca in advance of the premiere on @showtime on July 8. The team that made this project alongside me and @nas are champions to say the least. From technical squad to the support from the community in Queens and everyone inbetween we truly had THAT TEAM. Today marks the release of season 2 of @netflix’s STARTING 5. Season 1 felt like a dream and the excitement remains around this historic season. The show proved to be a guiding light in the midst of a challenging year that started with evacuating my family from our beloved home in Altadena on the night of January 7th. My team on the show demonstrated something new in that moment. I already knew that I had the most talented squad around helping to make our collective vision a reality, but in that moment they extended beyond colleagues, and proved to be the most supportive group of friends imaginable. I have a desire to share about the fires, the emotional toll it’s taken and how it has forever changed me, but the truth is that it’s just another experience to carry: a new scar that leaves a mark and a memory, that yields growth and grief. My rosemary bush is thriving as are the bees who love to pollinate it. The roses keep blooming, their thorns stay sharp. My palm tree and ancient oak tree keep growing and protecting my space whether consciously or not. The mountain looms behind, serving as the main character and the painted backdrop. It’s all a colossal mind fuck that slowly gets further away in the rear view and then, without warning, resurfaces straight ahead through the windshield.
