what a gift. 💖🎀💅🏻
I have to be sooo honest and admit that I started writing down my feelings about the absolute joy that was Legally Blonde at Village Theatre over a week ago and have been procrastinating on actually posting this because frankly I don’t think I can really find the words to express just how much this show, this character, and this production and everyone who touched it mean to me. BUT I’m gonna try! The past 4 months of playing Ms. Woods-Comma-Elle have been nothing short of a gift—in the friendships I’ve made, the lessons I’ve learned, the straight up fun I’ve had, and in challenging and rewriting the narratives I’ve held about myself. Little Betsy, who watched this movie (and all of the different cuts and featurettes available on the DVD) so many times she destroyed the disc, truly can’t believe this is her life. Thank you to everyone at @village_theatre and our wonderful creative team @meredithmcdonoughinbk @katyneedsinsta @pianorj @brandonivie @dansboy for trusting me, encouraging me, and challenging me and for creating a rehearsal room with just immaculate vibes. Thank you to our amazing cast for bringing it every night and being a damn delight to be around every day. Thank you to our hard working stage management team, designers, company management, crew, orchestra, and front of house for keeping our ship afloat—we literally couldn’t have done this without you. Thank you to @alexnjacobs for being THE most supportive husband of all time. And thank you to our audiences—I can’t tell you how special it is to share this story with people from all walks of life and see how deeply it resonates with everyone from little girls to grandpas. I’m literally tearing up in a hair salon (life imitates art etc etc) just thinking about it.

Ms. Woods-Comma-Elle, I hope we meet again and I hope that, in the meantime, your boundless kindness, generosity, open-mindedness, ambition, and unapologetic courage rubs off on me. And most of all, I hope I can hold on to the radical optimism that drives you to action and change. That feels extra important right now. I love you, Elle. Thank you for everything you’ve given me. 💖 taken in Village Theatre by @beetstew

winter arc just dropped 💅🏻💕📚

beyond psyched to be stepping into the fab pink shoes of my favorite gal and educating audiences on the cardinal rules of perm maintenance (among other things). genuinely, no character means more to me than Elle Woods and I’m so honored to get to bring her to life at the wonderful @village_theatre . 💖

swipe for an exclusive peek at my process (from the time I fully took the LSAT back in Covid times and of course had to try that logic game Elle was working on)
