This weekend we said a final goodbye to my oldest and dearest friend surrounded by those who knew him well and loved him deeply. He was known by many names: Murdoch, Steve, Mr Hair, Steven, uncle, brother, mine.

Steven was the kind of man who, when feasible, became whomever you needed him to be: a gaming partner, a confidant, the smartest man in the room, IT support, a copilot, an unicorn, a teacher, an airman, a lover, a friend. He would ask for nothing in return and gave with his whole heart.

Our story is long and complicated and windy. Throughout the last 26 years, we floated in and out of each other’s focus, but were always in each other’s hearts. And with any epic story, we never got the ending we coveted or deserved. by @befrank86
