Hoje, no Dia Nacional de Luta da Pessoa com Deficiência, eu volto a um lugar que mudou para sempre a forma como percebo o mundo. 💙

Foi nas Ilhas Fiji, convivendo com crianças e adolescentes com diferentes deficiências e neurodivergências, que vi a arte e a música criarem e abrirem caminhos onde, muitas vezes, só existiam exclusão, capacitismo e preconceito.

Contribuí, em comunidade, para que talentos florescessem, vínculos nascessem e pessoas encontrassem formas de se expressar, pertencer e prosperar.

Foi também dessa experiência que nasceu a @behappy_fiji, ONG que fundei e que, há 10 anos, faz da música e da arte instrumentos de inclusão, encontro e transformação.

E foi ali, ao lado dessas crianças, que aprendi algo que multiplico até hoje: propósito não é uma coisa que a gente encontra só para si. É aquilo que nos coloca em movimento pelo outro e nos faz reconhecer como nossas as lutas que são coletivas.

Que nos ensina a 🌱 esperançar, 🌱 acreditar e, principalmente, a não desistir.

Fiji me ensinou que inclusão não é adaptar alguém ao mundo como ele está. É transformar o mundo para que todas as pessoas possam existir nele com dignidade, autonomia, oportunidade e pertencimento.

Foi lá que encontrei o meu propósito de vida. E é por ele que sigo: acreditando na arte, na inclusão, no encontro e na força da coletividade. 🩵🩵🩵 by @behappy_fiji

Today our hearts are full of pride as we celebrate Naomi Bee Lewakita and Samuela Naketeca for graduating from Fiji National University.

Back in 2016, both of them were part of the Be Happy Music Club family, where music became much more than art, it became confidence, expression, connection, and belief in themselves.

Watching their journey over the years has been incredibly emotional and inspiring for all of us. As totally blind young leaders from the Province of Ra, they continue to prove that determination, opportunity, and self-belief can change lives.

We are beyond happy and proud to see how far they have come, and we know this is only the beginning of many great things ahead.

Congratulations Naomi and Samu, your journey is inspiring Fiji and the entire disability community. Vinaka 🙏🏼

What a way to start the week!
Waking up to these amazing images from the @behappy_fiji , in partnership with the United Blind Persons of Fiji, fills the heart with hope.

This program, empowered by the incredible support of @artaidau and @bromleyandco , is training vision-impaired musicians from the Fiji Islands to become music facilitators in special education schools starting next year. A beautiful step toward inclusion, autonomy, and transformation through art.

Thanks to your support — and to everyone who contributed, we’re now able to restart the Be Happy Music Club programs in Fiji! 🎶✨

This new chapter begins by training vision impaired youth from the United Blind Persons of Fiji, to become music teachers in schools for special education. A powerful step toward inclusion, empowerment, and a more musical world. 🌍💙

Such a heartwarming sight to witness the power of community! Last Friday, we came together for a fundraising event dedicated to supporting Naomi as she embarks on her journey through university, pursuing her Diploma in Special Education at @fijinationaluniversity

Despite the lack of government scholarships for her chosen course, we rallied together, and thanks to the National Council for Persons with Disabilities, we successfully raised enough funds to cover Naomi’s first semester subject fees.

This is just the beginning! We’re gearing up to launch a campaign to secure funds for her entire course. Naomi deserves nothing less.

Check out the UBP Band! They’re a group of former students from the Fiji School for the Blind in Suva, Fiji, where the @behappy_fiji has been active since 2016.

The band, originally started in the 90s by former FSB students who have since passed away, was revived by current members in 2023, led by Josaia.

With the support of the Be Happy Music Club, we’re excited to keep spreading positivity through music!
