Choosing our builder was no small task 👷‍♂️ Six quotes. Wildly different prices. Very different timescales. And a whole lot to consider beyond the bottom line. Because we’d be living through the renovation, communication, trust, trades and timing mattered just as much as cost. Here’s what we learnt before handing someone the keys to our house… And yes, we eventually found our builder 🙌 If you’re looking for a reliable, hardworking team, with great communication, I would highly recommend our builder and his team. D o w n s t a i r s T o i l e t - The Vision Unlikely to be your average downstairs toilet! I really want to go BOLD… ✅ What I want… - A Loo which has a lot to say 🚫 What I definitely don’t want… - A beige box with a toilet Think small space, BIG personality. BUT will I be brave enough. Wait and see 👀 #homerenovationideas #toiletrenovation #renovationjourney by @behindno.56

K i t c h e n - The Vision I’m after warm neutrals, classic detailing and modern touches — timeless, but definitely not boring. ✅ I want it to feel cosy, look characterful and considered, with thought out details and intentional storage (everything must have a home)! 🚫What I DON’T want … ❌ Ultra modern (it’s a NO) ❌ Trend-led (I don’t want to be 50 with a kitchen that looks like it belongs to a 25 year old. I want it to age with me!) ❌ Too busy (character, not chaos) ❌ Strobe lights (NO thank you, I’m designing a kitchen not a nightclub) Basically I want Pretty and Practical - not Pretty OR practical. Simple. by @behindno.56

Before the big ideas, let’s see what we currently have and what isn’t working! The Good 1. Tudor charm which is here to stay 2. Good bones, great potential 3. High celings, instant character The Not So Good 1. Too many walls and divided spaces 2. The storage needs a rethink 3. A little light on LIGHT Spoiler - it’s about to look very different 👀 #homerenovation #renovationstarting #ukrenovation by @behindno.56

So here we are… You’ve met the rooms individually (scroll for a quick summary)! Next, it’s time to meet the project 🏡 Let the House Rewrite BEGIN 🔨 #homerenovation #renovationjourney #ukrenovations The Toilet! Under the stairs and underwhelming… The Kitchen! The wall is BLUE. The vision is not. The Living Room! Floral curtains that stop approximately nowhere near the floor (and the damn 🦒). Bye 👋. The Garden! One garden. Multiple levels. One very confused hedge. The Bathroom! From tired to…please just look away 😣 by @behindno.56

This is the downstairs toilet. Small, dingy and tucked under the stairs. I can barely fit my arse inside never mind actually using it 🫠 We have decided to go BIG with the plans for this room 👀 It’ll be the smallest room with the biggest personality ⭐ MAJOR transformation incoming! #toiletrenovation #UKrenovation #toiletglowup by @behindno.56
