We’ve had a very rough stretch but Teddy seems to finally be on the mend! About 2 weeks ago he stopped eating. Various vets, bloodwork, x-rays, etc couldn’t find anything. Anti-nausea meds, appetite boosters, and steroids did nothing. Grilled chicken, red meat, white rice, peanut butter, eggs, sweet potatoes, pumpkin puree, Recovery wet dog food, etc. Nothing. He dropped from 17lbs to 12lbs and was barely able to walk. He was mostly getting around in a stroller and we were beginning conversations about end of life care.

On Friday night I hit a wall and started forcing meat-based Gerber baby food onto his lips and nose leaving him no choice but to lick it off (while protesting). First real protein in a long time. By Sunday he started eating meat and he’s excitedly doing so every few hours since. We walked 10 blocks this morning. He’s still regaining strength but his will is undeniable.

I don’t know how much longer I have with my best friend but he certainly doesn’t seem to be done yet. 15 years and counting!
