Thanks to @nintendoamerica for gifting me the Nintendo Switch 2 system! #nintendopartner ❤️

FOURTEEN. YEARS. 🥹😭

I still can’t wrap my head around the fact that the little boy who made me a mama is officially 14 years old.

Fourteen years ago, I held him in my arms for the very first time, having absolutely no idea how much my life was about to change. He was my first everything. My first baby, my first experience with motherhood, and the beginning of a journey that has become the most beautiful part of my life.

And somehow, here we are. Planning birthday parties for a whole teenager! 😭

This year, I wanted to do something extra special for my Nintendo-loving boy, and thanks to Nintendo, I was able to surprise him with the Nintendo Switch 2! 🎮❤️

From setting up all the little birthday details to watching him play his new game and blow out his candles, my mama heart was FULL.

Because no matter how big he gets, how many birthdays we celebrate, or how quickly the years fly by, he’ll always be the little boy who made me a mom.

Happy 14th birthday to my first baby. If I could do it all over again, I’d choose you every single time. ❤️

Here’s to more birthdays, more memories, and a whole lot more gaming! 🎮🎂

This counts as learning too. 🥹📚

One of my favorite things about homeschooling little ones is realizing that learning does not have to look like sitting at a table filling out worksheets all morning.

Sometimes it looks like moving your arms, making silly sounds, matching cards, laughing, and somehow practicing phonics right in the middle of all of it. 😂

We’ve been using the ABC See, Hear, Do Uppercase Flashcards from Timberdoodle, and these have been such a fun addition to our preschool/kindergarten homeschool days.

They help us work on uppercase letter recognition, letter sounds, movement, beginning phonics, and eventually CVC words — without making it feel like a big formal lesson.

And that’s probably my favorite part.

I can pull out a few cards for 5–10 minutes, turn them into a game, let him move around, and still know we’re building those early reading skills.

Because little kids can absolutely be learning while they’re moving. 💛

I shared the full review + a closer look at the cards + how we use them in our homeschool over on the blog.

👉🏾 Head to the blog to read the full review!

Seafood was obviously the reason we came to Harpoon Harry’s Crab House… but the restaurant itself ended up being just as memorable. 🦀

Before we even got into the food, they told us about the woodwork throughout the restaurant — red cedar, black walnut and cherry were used throughout the space, and there are more than 60 hand-carved pieces worked into the design. Once they pointed them out, I started noticing them EVERYWHERE. 😂 The entryway, around the bar, tucked into different parts of the restaurant… there’s so much detail.

And then came the seafood. 🤤

We tried the crab tots, lobster spinach dip, North Atlantic salmon with orange ginger sesame glaze, lobster mac and cheese, cowboy shrimp, fish and chips and the lobster roll.

Talk about commitment! 😂

The lobster mac and cheese was definitely one of my favorites, but I also loved how much variety there was for everybody at the table. And the atmosphere made it even better — big, lively, family-friendly and just really fun to walk around and take in.

If you’re putting together a Pigeon Forge itinerary and want a seafood dinner that feels like part of the experience, add this one to your list. @harpoonharryspigeonforge

I really thought we were going to see a cool upside-down building and call it a day. 😂

Nope.

WonderWorks ended up being one of the most surprising stops from our Pigeon Forge trip because there is SO much happening inside. More than 100 hands-on exhibits, STEM activities, physical challenges, interactive science, and yes… I somehow ended up pedaling myself completely upside down on the Extreme Bikes 360. 😂

From a homeschool perspective, this was such an easy win because the kids were learning without me having to turn anything into a “lesson.” They were experimenting, problem-solving, testing how things worked, moving their bodies, and asking questions the entire time.

WonderWorks also offers special homeschool opportunities, educational resources, and Sensory Days with adjustments like lowered music and reduced stimulation, which I really love seeing from a family attraction.

If you’re planning a Pigeon Forge trip with kids, especially a homeschool or roadschool family, put this one on the list. We came for the upside-down building and left talking about everything that was INSIDE it. 😂 @mypigeonforge @wonderworks_tn

Dinner with a side of BEAR SIGHTING?! 😂🐻🍕

One of my favorite meals from our Pigeon Forge trip was our evening with Pizza Rio! The whole experience felt so warm and relaxed — from the cozy atmosphere and incredibly kind service to sitting right beside the water while we ate. And then, because apparently dinner wasn’t memorable enough already, we spotted a bear near the water! 😂

@pizzariobrazilianpizza serves pizza the Brazilian way with a continuous dining experience, which means different savory pizzas are brought right to your table followed by dessert pizzas. No choosing just one flavor over here! 🙌🏾

The food was delicious, the service was wonderful, and I loved that dinner gave us a chance to slow down after a busy day of exploring and just enjoy being together.

We visited Pizza Rio during our Pigeon Forge stay, and you can now find them nearby in Gatlinburg!

📍 Pizza Rio
373 Parkway
Gatlinburg, TN

Definitely add this one to your Smoky Mountains food list — especially if you’re traveling with a family that can never agree on just ONE pizza. 😂🍕❤️

The Island was easily one of our favorite stops in Pigeon Forge. 🎡✨

We visited during the day and came back at night, and I’m so glad we did because it was GORGEOUS once everything lit up. Between the rides, the Great Smoky Mountain Wheel, the fountain, restaurants, shops, and just walking around taking everything in, there was plenty for all of us to enjoy.

The kids especially loved having so many rides to choose from, and I loved that we could spend a few hours here without feeling like we had to rush from one thing to the next.

And yes, I’m counting this as roadschooling too. 😂 One of my favorite things about homeschooling is how much the kids learn simply from traveling, exploring new places, reading signs and maps, asking questions, and experiencing things outside of our normal routine.

If you’re planning a family trip to @mypigeonforge , definitely put The Island on your list — and if you can, stay until after dark because seeing everything lit up was one of my favorite parts. ✨ @theislandpf

I’m a pasta girl through and through, so when @roma.table invited us in for a hosted dinner and told me we were doing the cheese wheel experience, I already knew this was going to be my kind of night. 😂🍝

And it really was.

The cheese wheel gets all the attention — and rightfully so because watching your fettuccine Alfredo get flambéed and tossed right there at the table is SO fun — but I was honestly just as impressed with how much there was for me to eat on the rest of the menu.

We had crispy calamari, cedar plank salmon, lobster & shrimp ravioli, garlic seafood bucatini, and we added crispy shrimp to our cheese wheel too. So if you’re a seafood person like me, you will definitely find a ton of options!

A little tip if you’re planning to go: their Tableside Fire Fall Cheese Wheel is a special beginning at 5 PM, and on Wednesdays and Thursdays you can order it as either an appetizer or your actual entrée. So you can split one with the table… or have it all to yourself. 🤭

Roma Table is in Sevierville, right in the Smoky Mountains, so this is an easy dinner to add if you’re staying or spending time around Pigeon Forge. I also liked that it still felt nice enough for a special dinner without feeling too fancy to bring the whole family.

And before anybody comes for my pronunciation in this reel — I PRACTICED. 😭😂 Flambéed, Grana Padano, bucatini AND Sevierville all in one voiceover was a lot of responsibility.

📍 Roma Table
1503 Parkway
Sevierville, TN 37862

Definitely save this one if you’re planning a Smoky Mountains trip — especially if pasta and seafood are high on your list. 🍝🦐

One thing about me… I WILL find the educational value in a family vacation. 😂🏎️

While visiting Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, we stopped at Blake Jones Fun Center on the Parkway for some go-kart racing — which, if anyone asks, absolutely counted as homeschool.

Physics? ✅
Speed and motion? ✅
Hand-eye coordination? ✅
Reaction time? ✅
Following directions and safety rules? ✅

See? Science class. 😂

But really, this is one of my favorite parts of homeschooling. Learning doesn’t have to be confined to a desk or even happen the way we traditionally think it should. Traveling gives our kids opportunities to experience new places, try new things, build confidence, and make some pretty incredible memories along the way.

And @mypigeonforge has been SO good for that. There are family-friendly experiences everywhere, which made it easy to mix our homeschool travel days with plenty of fun.

📍 Blake Jones Fun Center
2891 Parkway, Pigeon Forge, Tennessee

So yes, I’m officially adding “go-kart racing” to the homeschool planner. 😂

There couldn’t be a better day to share a few more memories from Dollywood. 💕🎀✨

Today, September 25 — 9/25, a sweet nod to 9 to 5 — marks the first annual Give Like Dolly Day, a day created to celebrate Dolly Parton’s incredible legacy of generosity, dreaming big and helping children fall in love with reading. 📚💗

📍 Dollywood
Pigeon Forge, Tennessee

Getting to experience Dollywood with my family made our time in Pigeon Forge even more special. There’s something about this place that feels like so much more than rides and attractions — you see Dolly’s heart woven throughout it all.

The music. The mountains. The family traditions. The storytelling. And that reminder to dream big and give back along the way. 🦋

So today feels like the perfect day to share a little more @dollywood magic from our trip.

Happy Give Like Dolly Day. 💕✨

Save this one for your next family trip to Pigeon Forge! ⛰️🎢

A full day at Dollywood with the family — rides, good food, mountain views and all the little moments in between. 🎢🍂⛰️

📍 Dollywood
Pigeon Forge, Tennessee

We spent the day exploring the park, trying different foods, catching rides and taking in all the details that make Dollywood feel so special for families.

One thing I really appreciated was how easy it was to make the day work for everyone — from the bigger rides to slower moments, snacks, shows and plenty of places to stop and just enjoy being together.

If you’re planning a Pigeon Forge trip with kids, Dollywood is definitely one of those places you can build an entire day around.

Save this for your next Smoky Mountains family trip. 🤎

If you’re planning a family trip to Pigeon Forge, add Jellystone Park™ Pigeon Forge to your list. 🐻🏕️

We loved having so much for the kids to do right at the campground — from the playground and jump pad to wagon rides, swimming, Gaga Ball, fishing and activities inside the recreation center.

You can even download the Jellystone Park app to keep up with the activities happening throughout the day, which made it so easy to plan what we wanted to do next.

And whether you’re a cabin family like us or bringing your RV, it’s such a fun way to experience Pigeon Forge while giving the kids plenty to do without even leaving the campground.

Definitely save this one for your next Smoky Mountains family getaway! 🍂⛰️ @jellystonepigeonforge @mypigeonforge
