We love games day in Dufftown. Come see us from 8-1 on Saturday and grab yourself a decent coffee, kombucha or botanical tea (and maybe a sweet piece 🍰 and a Scottish read 📚) to set you up for the big day.

We’ll be closing in Dufftown the moment the pipes go past at 1pm so our team can get away to enjoy the games.

Our Dufftown store will be back open 8-4 on Sunday to caffeinate any sore heads.

🌊 Cullen open 9–5 all weekend like normal. 🌊

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 It’s just over a week until the Dufftown Highland Games 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

We’re taking part in the Highland Games shop window competition again this year (following our narrow miss of the best window last year with fiction v non fiction tug of war 😢)

This year, the team have dug out their best highland footwear for display with a suggested book pairing. Books on bagpipes (paired with piper’s brogues), kids books about highland dancers (paired with highland dancing pumps) or Bob Mortimer’s The Long Shoe (paired with some ‘long’ wellies) - we’ve got you covered.

So for the next couple of weeks, you’ll be able to spot members of the beinn team by their bare feet while piping, highland dancing or hiking.

We’re closing early in Dufftown on games day (Saturday 25th July)so we’ll be open 8-1. We’ll be back open at 8am on Sunday to caffeinate any sore heads.

We love our stores, the slow morning starts before the day gets going, remembering the order of a regular customer and seeing them smile, bustle of weekend summer holidaymakers buying gifts for the kids or to take home. But… it’s not an easy time to be running a bricks and mortar high-street business just now. There’s a lot going on which means everyone has a bit less money in their pocket and we’re feeling that in this year’s book sales.

It's the longest day of the year and is a night for bonfires to salute the sun, celebrations and all night dancing. As we move into high summer in Speyside, we're trying not to think about the days getting shorter just yet.

Both are stores are always full of queer stories - whether they're by queer people, about queer people, or both - you'll find them across all our shelves all year round but especially this month!

🌱 Call us Monty Beinn and put us on BBC1 - we've been experimenting with cup-pots 🌳

Whenever we reorder a pallet of our takeaway cups, we check that they are still producing them to the environmental standards that we expect, that they're totally plastic free and AA compostable.

That got us thinking... 🤔 Could our takeaway cups have a life between coffee and compost?

So we're experimenting with whether a used BEINN takeaway cup (with some holes poked in the bottom) could be the starting home for an oak tree. (So far, yes - look at this guy! 🌱😍)

Who wants to grow some trees with us this autumn? 🌳🌳🌳
