The news was saying it would take two weeks “to flatten the curve” and to only gather in groups of 10 or less. Masks weren’t a thing yet and it was the bread making, Tiger King era.

About a week before our elopement, Ashley said, “Beka, there is no telling when we are going to be able to have a wedding. If we want to do it, we better do it now because it could be a very long time.”

I didn’t really think it would take that long for the world to get back to “normal” at the time, but I trust his intuition like crazy. So I ordered a dress rush shipping from @asos and we bought his ring at Walmart. One of my friends brought her wedding jewelry to borrow, one brought a flower girl dress for Gracie to wear and one did my hair and makeup. My dear friend @sarahdoakland did all the florals and ran the show. We played music from his playlist, “Songs for Beka.”

It was a perfect day.

It takes a lot of courage to hope again after loss. I feel like our whole relationship has been one big courageous act. It’s been the ride of my life.

I’m grateful for this steady, unwavering commitment and love. It’s been healing and redemptive. It’s always been us. 💗 by @bekagaskin

We have gone to Dollywood nearly every year since the kids were little. One day walking through the gates they said, “Keep a close eye out, you might see Dolly today.” 🥰

We couldn’t believe our luck!! But then, sadly, it was rainy and dreary and we knew Dolly wouldn’t come out in the rain.

Well wouldn’t you know it, right at noon, the exact time she was meant to come through the park, the clouds parted and it was sunny and bright and we knew we would get to see her!☀️

From that day on it’s been a family joke that Dolly controls the weather. She just snaps her fingers and the sun comes out! 🤩

Maybe that’s why we had such a rainy summer in Nashville as she was getting ready to go home and wasn’t working as much. 🙏

Millennial women have:

✔️ Graduated college
✔️ Built careers
✔️ Bought houses
✔️ Raised babies
✔️ Survived the economy
✔️ Learned how to use technology
✔️ Healing generational trauma a during global crisis
✔️ Managed work, marriage, motherhood, friendships and approximately 47 tabs open in our brains

And yet…

There’s a 4-minute task on our to-do list that we’ve been avoiding for 11 business days.

What if... you don’t disappear until September?

We need to:
☀️ Sleep well
☀️ Move our bodies
☀️ Laugh with friends
☀️ Keep promises to ourselves
☀️ Spend more time outside
☀️ Protect our peace

7 summers ago I didn’t know he existed.

But I knew when I met him he would be consistent, warm, kind, stable, not triggered by my wounds, secure and honest.

This week I was away and he took care of all three kids and two dogs. They watched movies, went to the arcade, went golfing. He cooked dinner every night, worked and mowed the yard. He texted me every day telling me how many more sleeps until we saw each other again, just like when we were dating.

I’ll never know why it took me so long to find him but I know this. Being with him is my why for everything I’m doing now with my business.

So that we can enjoy our lives together to the fullest.
To retire well and have a legacy of happiness and abundance and peace.

I’ve never had a blueprint for this kind of life. So we’re building one. ❤️

Not sure who funded the study but we fully support it 😉

Our visit at Porter Row in Ocean Springs, MS was just beautiful!

And the stay at @coastalcottagecollection was perfection!

Cozy, classy, and our favorite part was the attention to detail of the things that you don’t even think about but need on a trip!

A few minutes away from the boutiques and amazing restaurants and a short walk to the beach, it was so lovely!

We were shocked at how not insanely busy this town was compared to Destin or 30A.

Definitely worth a visit!

I think I won the husband lottery. 😭

Healing for me is realizing I was never too much,
I was just in a room that couldn’t hold me.

I spent years praying for a relationship that felt safe.

A relationship where I could be fully myself.

A relationship where I didn’t have to shrink.

I thought I was praying for a specific person or outcome.

Looking back, I think I was praying for this man all along.

I just didn’t know it yet. 🙏

Maybe some prayers aren’t unanswered. I sure thought they were. It was excruciating and I had to surrender my idea of what it needed to look like.

But to be delighted in like this…

One time someone told me:

“You have a whole box of 64 colors, but you’re only asking for blue.”

I still think about that.

For a long time, I kept my wants small. I didn’t want to seem demanding. I didn’t want to be seen as too much.

So I settled and played the part.

Now?

I’d rather be too much than invisible. I’d rather ask for what I want than spend my life pretending I don’t want it.

A summer of:
• eating before you’re starving
• going outside
• sleeping enough
• drinking water
• keeping simple routines
• protecting your peace
• not turning every hard feeling into the end of the world

Not sexy but stable.
