Almost 10 years in the making.

For the last decade, I’ve built my career as a makeup artist from the ground up, learning the lessons, making the mistakes, growing a client base, teaching over 40 students through my accredited training and figuring out what it actually takes to turn makeup into a business.

And now I’m putting everything I’ve learned into something completely new.

The MUA Business Academy.

Created for working makeup artists who are ready to stop guessing their way through business and start building one with structure, confidence and direction.

We’ll be covering the parts of being an MUA that nobody really teaches you, money, pricing, getting booked, attracting clients, marketing, bridal, systems, your online presence and so much more.

This isn’t another makeup course.

It’s the business education I wish existed when I started.

So… what actually was The MUA Social? 🤎

When I first had the idea for The MUA Social, I wanted to bring together all the makeup artists I’ve had the privilege of training through my accredited makeup course over the years.

I’ve now had over 40 students complete my accredited training, and although I get to know every single one of them throughout their course, most had never actually had the chance to meet each other.

So The MUA Social was exactly that,a night for my past and current students to come together, meet other artists who’ve been through the same training, make connections, create content, catch up and celebrate how far they’ve all come.

Being self-employed in this industry can sometimes feel lonely, and I’ve always wanted the people I train to feel like they’re part of something beyond the weeks they spend doing their course with me. I don’t want it to just be finish your training, get your certificate and goodbye. I want there to be a community afterwards too.

And somehow, they managed to turn the night back around on me… 🥹

Kyla had secretly organised a personalised book filled with messages from my students, past and present. I genuinely had NO idea it was happening.

Reading what they had written about their training, where they are now and the part I’d played in their journeys was one of those moments that made me stop and think… how did we get here?

This November marks 10 YEARS since I started my business.

I started as a girl who loved doing makeup. Then came my first 1-1 lesson. Eventually I took the leap into accredited training, and somehow I’ve now trained over 40 students.

And I’ve learned so much along the way, not only about makeup, but about getting booked, pricing, clients, marketing, money, social media, making mistakes, building confidence and creating a business that lasts.

Over the last few months, I’ve been thinking a lot about what the next 10 years look like.

And I’ve been quietly taking everything the last decade has taught me and turning it into something completely new.

Something I really wish existed when I was starting out.

The BEST day learning from @enyadoherty1 & @beautybyellieparkhurst 🥹🤍🎀✨

The girls are genuinely insane at what they do and I came away feeling SO inspired… with a notes app full of tips and an unfortunately very long list of new makeup products I now need to buy 😂

One thing I’ll always believe is that you never stop learning. I’ve been a makeup artist for almost 10 years now, but this industry is constantly changing — new products, new techniques, new trends, and continuing to invest in education and learn from other artists is SO important.

It’s also so nice getting out of your own little bubble, meeting other MUAs, making new friends and seeing how completely differently everyone works.

Nearly 10 years of building my career from the ground up. Thousands of faces. Early mornings, late nights, weekends spent working, constantly learning, investing back into my business, taking opportunities that terrified me, making mistakes and figuring it out as I went.

There have been so many moments where I’ve questioned myself, compared myself, felt behind, or wondered if all the work I was putting in would ever actually get me where I wanted to be.

And somewhere along the way, the things I used to say “one day” about started becoming my actual life.

Travelling for weddings. Winning awards. Building a diary full of the loveliest brides. Becoming an educator. Opening my own accredited academy. Teaching 35+ makeup artists. Hosting my first MUA social. Creating a business that has given me opportunities I genuinely couldn’t have imagined when I first started!!

And I’m still nowhere near finished.

Not because everything has magically fallen into place, but because I can look back at the girl who started doing makeup all those years ago and know she worked her arse off to get here.

There’s still so much I want to do, but I think sometimes you have to stop looking at the next goal for five minutes and actually appreciate how many of your old goals you’re already living 🪄 taken in Aberdeen, Scotland, UK by @bekahcranmakeup

MY FIRST MUA SOCIAL 2026 🪄

After doing makeup for almost 10 years, and starting off doing the odd makeup lesson here and there, I eventually took the jump 4 years ago and started my own training academy offering accredited makeup courses.

It’s honestly so surreal to say that I’ve now taught over 35 makeup artists 🥹 Not everyone could make it along on Sunday, so there are quite a few faces missing from my artist board but getting so many of the girls I’ve trained over the years together in one room was honestly so special.

I really wanted to create a night where everyone could meet each other properly, make new connections, get some content and just have a good time with other people in the same industry.

Being self-employed can be quite lonely sometimes, and I think social media can make it really easy to look at other people in your industry as competition. I’ve just never wanted it to be like that. There is more than enough room for everyone to do well, and I’d much rather see girls supporting each other, sharing opportunities and celebrating each other’s wins 🖤

Thank you SO much to every single person who came along and made the night what it was, and to everyone who has supported me and my little academy over the years. I appreciate you all more than you know.
