로얄 갤러리(@galleryroyal_ )의 전시 《목욕탕 해부학: 부산》에 ‘Calmer Waters’ 시리즈 3점으로 참여했습니다.

어린 시절을 부모님 손을 잡고 매주 가던 동네 목욕탕을 기억하시나요?

한참 잠잠했던 기억이 얼마전부터 들썩이기 시작했습니다. 지금 전 세계적으로 배스 하우스(Bathhouse)가 새로운 웰니스 트렌드로 떠오르며 주목받고 있기 때문입니다. 다시 사람들이 목욕탕을 모이고 휴식하는 ‘제3의 공간’으로 일상에 들이기 시작했습니다.

이런 지금, 우리는 왜 부산에 주목할까요? 부산은 아직도 ‘집 앞 목욕탕’ 문화가 잘남아 있는 곳이기에 그렇습니다. 트렌드로 목욕탕을 즐기는 것이 아닌, 생활 속에 깊이 스며들어 있는 곳입니다. 일제강점기에 온천 지역으로 개발되고, 전쟁과 산업화 시기에 수백 개의 공동 목욕탕이 도시 곳곳에 뿌리를 내렸고, 지금도 650여 곳이 운영되고 있습니다. 도쿄보다 많은 숫자입니다. 그리고 여전히 새벽, 평일 오후 가리지 않고 목욕을 위해 남녀노소 목욕탕을 찾고 있습니다.

이들이 계속해서 목욕탕을 찾는 이유는 무엇일까요? 좋은 목욕탕은 생각보다 사소한 것들로 만들어집니다. 몸이 편안하게 잠기는 탕의 깊이, 오래 머물기 좋은 물의 온도, 새벽마다 새 물을 받는 부지런함. 거스름돈으로 매일 준비하는 빳빳한 새 지폐, 군더더기 없는 벽면, 탈의실의 작은 꽃 한 송이. 우리가 자세히 들여다보지 않았던 것들이 목욕탕을 목욕탕이게 만들고 있었습니다.

이 전시는 그것들을 해부합니다.
부산의 동네 목욕탕들을 중심으로, 이 익숙하고 오래된 공간의 구조를 하나씩 펼쳐 봅니다. 좋은 목욕탕이란 무엇인가. 8년간 부산의 목욕탕을 기록해 온 매끈연구소와 함께, 그 답을 찾아가는 여정에 여러분을 초대합니다.

I’m pleased to be taking part in the exhibition Bathhouse Anatomy: Busan at Royal Gallery (@galleryroyal_ ), presenting three works from my Calmer Waters series.

The works explore the familiar yet timeworn structures of neighbourhood bathhouses in Busan, unfolding their spaces layer by layer.

국립중앙박물관 @nationalmuseumofkorea 에서 진행된 특별전
‘우리들의 이순신’ (2025.11.28–2026.03.03)에서
이순신 전적비 키오스크에 들어가는 일러스트 5종을 작업했습니다 (1/5).
애니메이션은 @davvero_art 에서 제작해주셨습니다.

비문 영상에 사용된 일러스트는 이순신 장군의 일생 속 주요 사건들을 중심으로 구성했고, 거북선이 포함된 이 장면은 한산도 대첩을 모티프로 하였습니다.

충무공 탄일을 앞두고, 뜻깊었던 작업을 다시 떠올려봅니다.

for the exhibition ‘Our Lee Sun-shin’ (2025.11.28–2026.03.03) at the National Museum of Korea @nationalmuseumofkorea

Admiral Lee Sun-shin is one of Korea’s most revered historical figures, a naval commander of the mid-Joseon period.
The exhibition traces key moments from his life and legacy.

Illustrations featured in the inscription video were developed around pivotal events from his life, this one Inspired by one of his most celebrated victories (Battle of Hansan Island), featuring the iconic turtle ship.

서울시 @seoul_official 디자인 프로젝트의 일환으로, 신림동 난곡사거리에 매력펜스 작업을 진행했습니다.

공원을 뛰노는 아이들과 운동회의 장면을 모티프로, 일상적인 풍경 속에 자연스럽게 스며드는 활기와 기억의 이미지를 담아냈습니다.
