We bought a house!!!

This month marks 20 years since my family moved to Nebraska from Japan. Growing up in a military family, I spent the early years of my life moving around the world and even well into my teen years I was still always waiting for the other shoe to drop. While I’m so thankful for the life experiences I got to have overseas as a kid, I never was able to feel settled. I was always preparing myself for my parents to tell us where we were going next, and eventually plotting where I would move to one day. I thought I would never be able to truly settle in and have a community and be happy where I am. I tried moving to Tennessee, I tried moving to Dallas…. Both times I found myself missing Nebraska and my friends and moved back after 6 months. And I’m so thankful for those experiences because they showed me how much I love and appreciate the life I’ve built here and the community I have here. I was always too busy looking at where I was going next and all the other places I could be that I never took the time to be present and see the roots I was growing right where I am. So when my parents inevitably did move on to their next adventure, it was a no brainer for me that I was staying in Omaha. And looking back at everything that’s happened since finally letting myself feel content and happy staying here, it just proves I’m where I was meant to be the whole time.
So now being able to say that Jonny and I bought our first house, I feel the most stability and peace that I think I’ve ever let myself feel in my life.
I’m so grateful for Jonny and the role he’s played in all of this. He’s worked so so hard to make this dream possible for both of us and I can’t wait to make this house our home🩷 by @bekslarson
