High Street - Where River, Port, Market & City Met 🤎

Our Culture Night piece hand painted by @graffic_belfast is now complete! Celebrating the history of High Street, widely considered to be Belfast’s oldest street and where the story of the city began 🙌🏼

High Street developed along the River Farset, the river that gave Belfast its name, while the wide inlet of Belfast Lough provided a safe harbour for trade and commerce purposes along High Street, helping the area grow into the city we know today.

And there’s plenty of history here… 👀 Local lore tells us that Henry Joy McCracken, who was executed outside the Market House in Belfast, stopped off at @whitestavernbelfast for one last drink before meeting his fate at the gallows!
