This week, I had the privilege of helping distribute backpacks and school supplies to local students as they get ready to head back to school.

It was a reminder that preparing kids for a new year is about more than pencils and notebooks. It’s about making sure every child has access to quality education, healthcare, mental health support, safe neighborhoods, and a stable place to call home.

It means standing up for kids—no matter their background or immigration status—and making sure they have the tools, the support, and the opportunity to reach for the stars.

Five years strong—and this year, we’re doing things differently for the safety of our community.
Our 5th Annual Back 2 School Giveback won’t be held in person this year. Ongoing ICE raids have made large gatherings unsafe, especially for the families we serve. We refuse to risk safety in the name of tradition.

Instead, we’re focused on impact: delivering backpacks filled with school supplies directly to families across Council District 9.

If your a family in need sign-up for delivery of our Back to School Giveback by July 30th to have goods delivered by August 7th or 8th, register via the link in our bio.
