A truly special encounter. 🐋A rare sighting of a Southern Right Whale mother and her newborn calf along the coast of northern NSW. These gentle giants generally give birth in the cooler waters of southern Australia. It is believed that there are fewer than 300 southern wright whales that visit the east coast of Australia, so witnessing one is an incredibly special moment.The close bond between mother and calf is remarkable, with the calf staying close as it learns to swim, breathe, and navigate the ocean during its first weeks of life.A beautiful reminder of the wild wonders that still grace our coastline. 💙#wildlife #whale #wildlifephotography by @bella__jasmine
