at around 10:50 pm on tuesday, i received news that i still cant really seem to fully swallow the truth of. then in the following two days since that moment, i slowly watched people who had the honor to know and love tanisha post the sweetest words about her, and moments of her captured on film. when i finally sat down in my notes app to begin to speak about tanisha, i was lost. how was i supposed to contain a woman like her into words? tanisha herself never wanted to be contained, especially by the western eye. she was so unapologetically herself. she was so utterly unique. i never have and never will meet anybody like her, and i don’t want to. the woman that tanisha was not replicable. i went out today to clear my mind and i came across a peacock figure, and in that moment i knew i had the words to say about tanisha.

her peacock feather tattoo meant a lot to me. it was the first thing i ever talked about to her. i consider her one of the biggest blessings i got from texas infinites. i still do. conversation with tanisha was so easy. i miss her voice. the only thing i want is to just speak to her again. being around her was truly just so special and the only thing i wish for now is more of it. more of her. when i didn’t know if she would be my big, i was devastated. when i found out she was, it meant the world. it meant i could spend more time with her, and it meant that she had just as much love for me as i did for her. she’s the closest thing ive had to a big sister. tanisha always understood what i was going through more than most and always knew the exact thing to say. to be known by tanisha was to be loved by her, and she always stood up for those she loved, and i admired that so much. she was such a light. every word i write about her, i can think of a thousand more.

i never would have thought i’d ever have to write this. i still can’t believe i am. i debated putting this post in black and white. then i realized tanisha’s life was nothing but full of color. nobody will ever get enough time with her, but i am so forever grateful for the time i did get. tanisha jaan, i love you, rest easy heavenly girl. stay beautiful.
