Sometimes you just need to grab a good book that makes you smile, curl up by a window, and ignore the world. As someone with an imagination that often gets carried away quite fast and quite grandly, I can identify with Catherine!

Thank you @canterburyclassics for this gorgeous edition! It fits so well in my bag! 💕💕💕

🍁🍂🍁 𝑩𝒓𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒆̈ 𝑭𝒂𝒍𝒍 🍁🍂🍁

There’s so many great books I want to read and reread this autumn but something about the turn of the leaves, a chill in the air, and the line, “There was no possibility of taking a walk that day” that sends me back to the pages of my beloved Brontë sisters.

𝑸𝑶𝑻𝑫: If you could take a walk with any author or character who would you choose?

🐈‍⬛ 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑴𝒂𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑴𝒂𝒓𝒈𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒂 🐈‍⬛

When life gets stressful on I run right for my favorite books. Money can buy happiness in a way because it can buy books, and truly great literature heals the soul, at least my soul!

My phone is always on silent but I might even turn it off as I find some grass to lie in and get lost in this world for a few hours.

I’m being extremely picky with my reading choices for the rest of the year. I think after this book will be a Brontë and then Crime and Punishment

𝑺𝒚𝒏𝒐𝒑𝒔𝒊𝒔:

🖤 The novel’s vision of Soviet life in the 1930s is so ferociously accurate that it could not be published during its author’s lifetime and appeared only in a censored edition in the 1960s. Its truths are so enduring that its language has become part of the common Russian speech.

🖤 One hot spring, the devil arrives in Moscow, accompanied by a retinue that includes a beautiful naked witch and an immense talking black cat with a fondness for chess and vodka. The visitors quickly wreak havoc in a city that refuses to believe in either God or Satan.

🖤 But they also bring peace to two unhappy Muscovites: one is the Master, a writer pilloried for daring to write a novel about Christ and Pontius Pilate; the other is Margarita, who loves the Master so deeply that she is willing literally to go to hell for him.

Every now and then, when the world gets too loud I have to love turn off all my elector ice and escape to nature with the Brontë sisters.

They heal my weary soul

🖤 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑩𝒓𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝑲𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒎𝒂𝒛𝒐𝒗 🖤

My goal this weekend to is to read long books, order food, drink ridiculous amounts of coffee, and ignore everything outside my front door!

It’s not fall without Dostoevsky. I’m rearranging all of my books and while I had intended to reread Crime and Punishment I have not been able to find it. So, The Brothers Karamazov it is!

One day I will have my books organized, and it will be glorious, and will probably only last a few days

Synopsis:

🖤The Trojan War is the most famous conflict in history, the subject of Homer’s Iliad, one of the cornerstones of Western literature. Although many readers know that this literary masterwork is based on actual events, there is disagreement about how much of Homer’s tale is true. Drawing on recent archeological research, historian and classicist Barry Strauss explains what really happened in Troy more than 3,000 years ago.

Synopsis:
🖤In 1932, after years of fundraising and flurries of letters back and forth, an archaeological team from Princeton University gathered in Antioch, Syria. They expected to find sculptures, frescos, palace walls, and busts. Instead, all across this ancient Roman metropolis, they stumbled upon one site after another of extraordinary mosaic treasure, incomparable in number, quality, and historical significance.
There were some three hundred of them in all, glories of color and design, stones and pieces of glass heaped up into spectacular images. Many of them were vast, room-sized tableaus, commissioned by wealthy Antiochenes for their villas. They depict banquets, drinking contests, olive harvests; lions, leopards, peacocks, and gazelles; legends, scenes from mythology, Cupid and Psyche, Narcissus and Dionysus.

🍁🍂🍁 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑫𝒖𝒆𝒔 & 𝑫𝒐𝒏’𝒕𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝑴𝒂𝒈𝒊𝒄 by @delemhach 🍁🍂🍁

Autumn is in the air and on my shelves! I’m so ready for pumpkins and getting lost in magical woods and going on adventures! This book sounds sooooooo good! I need to make some pumpkin cookies and binge read it!

𝑺𝒚𝒏𝒐𝒑𝒔𝒊𝒔:

🍁 Spidena Kettle runs a quiet magic shop at the edge of town, selling just enough spells and potions to keep herself afloat-and out of trouble-when Benthrop Hozel enters her shop one day. On the run from the nefarious sort, he simply wishes to be forgotten by his pursuers. In exchange, he promises a favor.

🍂 Such a deal could have dire consequences if Ben is unable to fulfill his end of the bargain. Not that the witch is overly concerned—after all, there’s no risk to her making such an arrangement with a normal human.

🍁 Only...Ben may be more than he seems. With their fates forcibly intertwined for a full journey, Spidena and Ben must not only evade their enemies and use precious magical resources to get by, but confront the secrets they’ve long kept...that is, if they can manage to stop getting on each other’s last nerve for long enough to do so

💕 𝑪𝒐𝒅𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑪𝒐𝒅𝒆𝒙 𝒃𝒚 𝒀𝒐𝒐𝒏 𝑯𝒂 𝑳𝒆𝒆 💕

I’m a sucker for a pink book, especially one about languages! This one sounds so good I can’t wait to spend my weekend devouring it! Thank you @sagapressbooks for this #gifted copy!

𝑺𝒚𝒏𝒐𝒑𝒔𝒊𝒔:

💕 In the stars-spanning Censorate, all languages other than lingua rubra are forbidden. The Censorate’s ruling Peacock, Aurelia, wields the universal language to manipulate reality itself and to command the obedience of all who hear and understand her.

💕 Valentina was sold as a child to Aurelia to serve as her sworn companion, the Swan, responsible for extracting useful knowledge from foreign texts before destroying their languages wholesale.

💕 Until she delivers a book of forbidden verse to the Peacock, which proves to be the key to enslaving the Basilisk, a traitor imprisoned for a thousand years, whose gaze is so powerful that he once destroyed the Censorate’s entire fleet
