Cutie pie BB size punkin installs by the team today while I was fundraising in the city. So grateful to have the people I have, including a new girl whose family literally grows pumpkins. She not only can put together a display but knows how important the stems are!

None of this happened without our Molly girl, who masterfully orchestrated the packages and deliveries. And our Debbi, who normally is our “keep the plants alive & thriving” lady but who rolled up her sleeves to sling pumpkins to be delivered. Ever grateful.

ps Liz, we need to go bigger next year if they hold up against the deer & squirrels out there in the country 🤪 by @bellaporchpots

One of the greatest joys Bella Porch Pots brings me is new friends. I mean yes, you are Lovey Clients; but the reason I try to stay small is so I remember how this started.

My ride or die, well… died in 2020, and my eyes are still leaking right now just typing that. We were shut down, I had just moved into my loft in Corktown, and I had no clue how to cope. Therapy 2/week and my tribe swinging through virtually & in person saved me, but I was destroyed.

Visiting the farmers at Eastern Market who knew her (she owned a garden center and did my pots!) led to me showing up on friends porches with plants which led me to many of you- their friends & neighbors- and me posting my porch pots adventures on social where I met many of you- thank you for sending me messages I swear I love them all!- which led me to my container gardening group- more friends!- and here we are.

Every so often, a porch finds me and the owner of that porch feels like a friend immediately. This little porch belongs to the daughter of an OG Lovey Client, and my awkward self immediately found myself chatting away with her & her hubby and of course the pup and I didn’t even tense up when their little nugget came out and started picking up the pumpkins and moving them around. Which tells you I’d stand in front of a bus for said nugget bc fr tho touching the pumpkins stresses me tf OUT 🤪

Anyway, not sure why I’m telling you all this bc I actually posted this to show how a tiny porch can still be dressed up for fall; many times I’m told asked if a porch is just too small to be a lovey client, and the answer is always no.

Instead I seem to be (over?) sharing my gratitude at finding people who bring joy to my (tiny shriveled black) soul 🤷‍♀️

Either way, enjoy. And know that yes I’m weird and awkward but I’m also grateful every day for people & porches like this.

No hashtags, just gratitude. Happy fall, Maggie’s daughter and family. You might have just needed a fall vibe for pictures, but I’m afraid you might just be part of the family now. 🖤

Giving the very important grid pic to @m0llym ‘s Top Chef pot as it has ALREADY been claimed!

This one is long, but I didn’t want to be a “follow along for part 2” person? Enjoy our BTS of making the pots with the mandatory ingredients you voted on, along with a few additions from each other and the pantry!

These pots couldn’t be more different which was super fun to see.

Which addition to the mandatory plants were you happy to see? That you thought really “made” the final pot?

Also thinking softer colors could be in our future, with our Molly girl doing her thing? Especially for the (only) 2 people I let request no purple?

Spent my Easter Sunday shivering cold by the water while full of pure joy and contentment being on my favorite porch* in my favorite city with my favorite ginger man who came home from msu for the weekend to freeze along with me in our favorite Detroit neighborhood.

Grateful every single season I get to be here, with all of you. And for clients who let me be a purple ho. Might be my favorite* spring pot ever.

I was told by folks who are getting snowed on that we're giving them vicarious happiness by sharing actual spring plants so here we gooooo!!!

Yes I have a love affair with Hellebore and Molly Whites aka MOLLY'S White. Enjoy this peek into her beauty.

Along with a peek of our sweet bb jacks, sitting up like a creepy weirdo.

Here's the deal: I see 25 on Tuesday but other than that we're over 28 so I say grab your plant jackets & LFGGGGGGGGG! 🙌🏻

Life's too short to stare at brown greens and empty pots. I've also been been told (and I AGREE) we need more beauty and joy and Molly Whites and bb jacks and even BIG COLOR vibes.

My very first attempt so BE NICE! 😂

I’ve been wanting to try the mounded pansies technique for wayyyy too long, and finally decided to give it a whirl today 😬

Howard from @plant_parenting is the undisputed master of this style, and I have a long way to go but I’m imagining how out of control wild this will be in a month and loving it!

It’s crazy how much difference the extra 6-8” makes? Maybe next time I’ll pare back the number of plants and maybe try some big ass color?

Or, you know, stick with who I am 🤪 I’ve been bouncing on walls waiting for my Lavender Haze pussywillow to arrive- thank you @starvalleyflowers 😘

This has to be someone’s vibe; it’s basically plant jacket proof! And SO DRAMATIC!

For real tho why am I so anxious / nervous / excited about these?!?!

Some of y'all will remember wayyyyy back in the beginning I often asked for help bc I didn't know what I was doing. With indoor, I fear I still don't 😬

So! Let's go old school and chime in to HELP YA GIRL.

ps: this is specifically a 🪻 bulb pot 🪻 offering which, god willing, will bloom around the same-ish time. Bulbs aren't season-long, so adding 🐰 🪺 etc won't be like "won't that look weird in June?" by @bellaporchpots

I'm not sure where I first saw this or I'd tag them with my eternal gratitude 🙌🏻🖤 I'm sure it was one of my @digginginassociation peeps?

If you're in Detroit (or similar) and your pots are under snow today, and not in a charming way:

❄️ double check there isn't heavy AF icy type snow*
❄️ grab your blower
❄️ LIGHTLY- give it a practice squeeze first, trust me- blow the snow from your pots
❄️ share a picture of your winter pots bc why not when they have just a hint of snow on them? I'd love to see them!

*carefully remove hard snow, and honestly not even all of it bc you don't want to accidentally break the yummies ya girl spent hours weaving into the greens 🤞🏻
