WONDERFUL COLOR

Bella Rune is a Swedish contemporary artist who creates sculptures with performative elements, experimenting with various techniques and materials. Her practice is grounded in an interest in handcrafts, history, and contemporary culture.

High Space Light Pillar (2018) and Reverse Order Copy Column (2018) are two textile works by Bella Rune that are part of the Magasin III collection. Vertically oriented and floating in space, the sculptures are woven in silk mohair dyed with curry powder, highlighters, printer ink, and artificially flavored fruit drink.

Starting Saturday, the sculptures can be experienced in this fall’s flagship exhibition at Waldemarsudde in Stockholm: Wonderful Colour – Gothenburg Colorism in a New Light. In the exhibition, they enter into dialogue with vibrant works by the Gothenburg Colorists – a group of artists from western Sweden active in the 1920s – 1940s – and their predecessors and successors. The interplay between the works brings a central element of Gothenburg Colorism into focus: how color and light can be used not only to convey emotion and atmosphere but also to explore surface, depth, and spatiality. by @bellarune

Konsthändelser i östra Skelleftedalen

Onsdag den 19 aug invigs ny konstnärlig gestaltning av Bella Rune och Jonas Nobel på Örjanskolan i Skelleftehamn. 📐🪵

Genom konsten vill konstnärerna skapa en ny nyfikenhet för hur världen är uppbyggd. Med poetisk framställning kopplas dagens världsbild ihop med andra tiders sätt att tänka kring hur vi förädlar och formar vår omgivning.
För Örjanskolan har de föreslagit en platsspecifik konst som utgår från Skelleftehamns och geometrins materiella historia. Smältverk, fruset och flytande, horisonter och de minsta beståndsdelarna är bärande nycklar till duons metod. Verket tar fysisk form genom tre träreliefer placerade på ytan intill matsalen och på en vägg i matsalen.

Onsdag den 19 aug och torsdagen den 20 augusti kl. 14.00 arrangerar vi också en guidad konstpromenad i WasteLand – Skellefteå Climate Action Park i Ursviken.

Efter omfattande sanering har den gamla industrimarken blivit en levande mötesplats där den offentliga konsten står i absolut centrum.
Vi samtalar kring Bigert & Bergströms spektakulära konstbastu ”Crystal Sauna” och reflekterar vid Ingela Ihrmans monumentala verk ”Landskapet kom först”, som vilar direkt på den tidigare industrimarken

Final week of Bella Rune’s exhibtion ’Planet’ at the gallery! We are open until Saturday June 27.
The series ‘Planet’ is a suite of works on paper engaged in a playful dialogue with geometric, non-figurative art. Here, an action involving rope or string has left traces on the surface, inspired by the technique of string-marking – an ancient method of marking a line between two points by stretching a thread and snapping it to create an impression.

Bella Rune’s practice unfolds at the intersection of sculpture, textile traditions, and spatial experience. Drawing on techniques such as weaving, braiding, and embroidery, she extends the logic of textiles beyond their conventional boundaries, creating works that challenge our perception of materiality, presence, and space.

Constructed from countless threads suspended in delicate tension, these sculptures shift according to the viewer’s movement, appearing alternately solid and immaterial. Neither drawing nor object, they exist in a dynamic relationship with the body, inviting us to experience space as something fluid, relational, and alive.

Bringing together the handmade and the digital, Rune’s work explores the invisible structures that connect us—to one another, to our surroundings, and to the narratives we inhabit. Within these fragile geometries, material and immaterial worlds meet.

$New public art together with @nobeljonas for Örjansskolan, a school in Skelleftehamn, an area with a history of mining industry. We have worked with amazing @hannesblixt at @open_wood_langedsverken to translate digital simulations of liquid matter and poetic casting of fractals in leftover wood (door and window openings) from houses built in solid wood/CLT (cross laminated timber). The area has a history of dirty industry and today it is a site of intense work with cleaning up toxic grounds and forging a possible future. Thank you Skellefteå konst och kommun and everyone working on this beautiful new school.
