Sequoia Capital, one of the most celebrated VC firms, passed on Palantir, Twitter, and Zoom early on. It wasn't because they weren't smart; it's that the future rarely looks obvious when it first walks into the room. It’s a powerful reminder that truly disruptive ideas often start small, messy, or just plain weird. Even for the best, predicting the next big thing means looking beyond what's immediately apparent. What do you think is the next 'non-obvious' idea?

Everyone says AI is changing every job. But in tech, the more interesting change is much more specific.
You used to bring a document to the meeting—a spec, a mockup, an explanation of what should be built.
Now, you can bring the thing itself.
That changes the conversation. Instead of spending weeks trying to make everyone picture the same idea, people can see it, use it, and react to it immediately.
Once the artifact changes, the entire workflow changes with it.

Most people don’t actively choose every product they use. They stick with what is already selected: the pre-checked box, the suggested tip, the default browser, or the search engine built into their device.
That is the default effect. Once an option is chosen for us, we become much more likely to keep it—even when switching is easy.
For companies, this can be incredibly powerful. Changing the default can change behavior without improving the product, lowering the price, or convincing people through advertising.
Sometimes the biggest advantage is not being better. It is being the option people never think to replace.

A good product can still lose if customers need a full explanation before they understand what it is.
Olipop’s rebrand wasn’t just about making the can prettier. It reduced the amount of thinking required to buy the product.
The lesson for founders: familiarity is not the enemy of innovation. Sometimes the best positioning takes something new and places it inside a category people already understand.

The thing that surprises me most about Silicon Valley isn't the talent or the money. It's how much people help each other. Ideas get shared, introductions get made, feedback gets given, usually before there's anything in it for the person giving it.

AI is changing what software is supposed to feel like.
For years, SaaS was built workflows. Now users are starting to expect something different: they want to describe what they need and have the product help them get there.
But that doesn’t mean every product should just add an AI chatbot. Sometimes chat is the interface.
And sometimes the best experience is still a simple button.
The real question for SaaS builders is not “How do we add AI?”
It’s: where does AI actually make the user’s job easier?

Your market matters more than your product.

You can build something great and still struggle if you’re selling to the wrong customer.

The biggest market isn’t always the best market. And the people who need your product most aren’t always the ones ready to pay for it.

Choose your market as carefully as you choose what to build.

Who are you building for?

Likes Don't Mean Market Fit

A lot of founders think product-market fit is when people love the product. It isn't. Product-market fit is when people are willing to pay for it. Anyone can get attention, downloads, or even compliments. The real test is whether the product solves a problem that people value enough to spend money on.

Once people start seeing your product, ask them what they think.

Share it with friends, coworkers, or anyone willing to try it.

Pay attention to what confuses them, what they enjoy, and what questions keep coming up.

That's how you figure out what to improve next.

Now that you have something people can use, it’s time to start showing it.

You don’t need to be on every platform.

Choose the place where your audience already is. LinkedIn, Instagram, Reddit, TikTok, wherever makes sense.

Start posting there.

Talk about what you’re building, what you’re learning, and why the product exists.

The goal is simple: help the right people find it.

Before showing your MVP to anyone, use it.

Open it and test everything.

The goal is to make sure the basic things work and the user doesn't get stuck right away.

A few hours of testing can save you a lot of embarrassing feedback later.

Day 4: your app needs a vibe
Once the main feature is clear, don’t jump straight into adding more.
Make the product feel intentional.
A simple way to do this: choose your colors, choose your fonts

make every screen feel like it belongs to the same app
Good design makes people trust the product faster.
It doesn’t need to be perfect.
It just needs to feel clear, consistent, and easy to use.
