Come with me to get my haircut for my curls ✂️🤍

After talking about how I’d completely lost the shape and volume in my fine curly hair, I thought I’d bring you along for the appointment too 💫

The goal was:
✨ Keep the length
✨ Bring back the bangs
✨ Add shape and volume

Discovered as a model at 16…

Started modelling and was featured in Christchurch Viva magazine at age 18

Moved back to Auckland at 19 and explored signing with modelling agencies…

But back then, around the 2010s, at 5’6 foot, I was considered ‘too short’

Had a baby and qualified as a beautician by 21

At 23, became a single mum…

Turned 30, and with the rise of inclusivity, signed with my first agency 💫

Worked with brands like Sony, Click Clack, TAB and Dorset Suits, to name a few..

Took a break from beauty at 33 after 10 years in the industry

Lead model for Mana Wahine at 34

At 35, went back to work in beauty ☺️

Walked for @whitecliffe_sustainablefashion and @aucklandartgallery wearing the stunning @charlierose.thelabel just last week ✨

Now, in my mid-30s.. I’m considering doing my first pageant, because apparently..

Being told I can’t do something just makes me want to do it more!! 😂

Anyway, I just wanted to say.. that it’s never too late to shift, change, and come back to your dreams at any age 😘

🙋🏼‍♀️ Makeup girlies - I need ALL the tips for filming this more close up makeup style content 😂🫣

But in all honesty, here’s my quick little review of the @makeuprevolution Lift & Define Mascara 👀

This was around $30 NZD from Farmers and is also available from Chemist Warehouse.

I could definitely see a noticeable difference, and I think the finished result is really pretty for an everyday look. I don’t usually fluff around with lash curlers, though, so I personally like my mascara to do a bit more of the heavy lifting and give me a little more curl and lift on its own 💪

My daughter also tried it and, because she does use a lash curler, she found that it worked really well for her 🤍

Have you tried the Bounce Curl Brush yet? ✨

Using the Bounce Curl brush has been an absolute game changer for my wavy curly hair. This is the before and after result of washing, brush styling and diffusing my curls 🤍

Now I’m definitely not an expert, when it comes to curly hair.. I’m still learning. However, as someone with fine hair that’s prone to frizz, I’ve honestly found that brush styling has helped my waves / curls clump together so much better, and has reduced a lot of frizz for me!

Just remember the Bounce Curl brush isn’t a detangling brush, so make sure to detangle each section first with a separate brush or comb before styling. If you have fine hair like me, I’ve heard the newer Fine Hair brush option is gentler, but the original brush has worked really well for me 💫

I got the job, now let’s make it official!! 💼✨

Get ready with me in my car to sign my contract for my first job back in the beauty industry 💫

After sharing about my job interview and the little journey that led me here, I thought, why not bring you along with me while I get ready to sign my contract?

With my new hours, I’ll have a little bit of time after dropping my daughter off at school and before I start work, so I’m figuring out how to make the most of that time. I thought doing my makeup in the car could be a good solution…

Once I remember to bring everything I need anyway 😂

..And, I thought I was doing so well getting organised this morning, but somehow I forgot my brushes, my bronzer and my blush!

Not to mention, I left all my documents in the car at the end 🤦‍♀️

But hey, not too bad for car brows if I do say so myself ☺️

I got the job!! 🥹🤍

The last year, I honestly thought I needed to find my thing (niche) - Turns out it was right there in front of me 💫

I’m so excited to be going back to the beauty industry!

I qualified as a beautician when I was 20, and for personal reasons it wasn’t easy.. Around that time, I’d lost my mum, and while I was preparing for my exams to complete my studies, I found out I was pregnant with my daughter, so was also dealing with nausea..🤰

But knowing I was going to be a mum made me even more determined to finish, and looking back, I’m so grateful that I did.

Beauty has always been a part of me, even before I qualified at 20. I have always just loved to take care of myself.. from experimenting with my hair, playing around with what I wear and prioritising my skincare.

I really do feel it’s something I’ll always come back to 😇
