This is so much more than a billionaire romance. If you want prose that summons all your emotions and binds you to incredibly lifelike characters, then this delivers ten fold. A handsome billionaire with scars both physical and emotional, he does all he can to deny when his icy heart begins beating again for sweet and effervescent Belle. Thoroughly shattered by the unrelenting curse upon the Anderson family, the  tragedies eat away at Maxwell's already battered heart but he also has a duty to uphold as the eldest to an empire. Their push and pull, the intimate moments had me salivating and tugging at my heart. I love that she's strong, funny but also that she can read between the lines of his verbal and non verbal queues. This heroine makes logical deductions and tempers his mercurial moods in the way that one would approach a cornered lion, and seeing her scrape beneath the veneer of his scab hardened wounds was mesmerizing to watch. He in turn unfurls the petals of her budding artistic passion, and I just melted for their hard earned moments of tenderness. There's metaphorical talismans, if you will, threading their narrative magic throughout that elevates this to a deeply poetic tale. Sharing the spirit of classic literature ala Rebecca, Victoria has woven an intoxicating modern romance. We are bathed in its mist cloaked mystery and lush landscape descriptions. The lurking evil in this story creeps in as both psychological and real-world threats to our couple. And how they battle those obstacles, themselves, and each other gives way to a startlingly rich and nuanced cast of characters that you find yourself fighting desperately for their HEA. A transcendent love story, a couple battling insurmountable odds crippling fears, devastating secrets. Surrender your hearts to this modern gothic masterpiece by @bellesbookishtower

I am spellbound by how much this speaks to my love of angsty, tortured soul, dangerous, skillful and, of course, handsome leading men. I have a type...and that type is GHOST 👻 We have an elite trained unaliver, Ghost, who becomes obsessed with the young and smart FBI agent, Brett. Ghost is a "Phantom", the most highly trained level of assassin in a secret society known as the "Sanctum". With a unique condition since birth, he cannot feel sensation but it's more than his heart that begins to feel things when he happens upon the raven haired beauty. We get ladynapping, violent scenes of his murder (tinged with dark humor) but most importantly, we peel back the tender scarred layers of Ghost. His POV and the labyrinthian journey we take into his fractured emotions are nothing short of spellbinding. Mindy has gifted us with writing this man and his unique voice with raptuous detail. At times he is a scared animal, then the next, powerful and impenetrable. Brett has a fascinating past as well and the way it intersects with Ghost's provides even more juicy tension. Layer on the threat of the Sanctum on Ghost's heels for breaking their beloved code, and a powerfully electric finale with action and suspense and you have his stellar story leaving you out of breath! Ghost was like the perfect of mix of "V" (from V for Vendetta...winking at you, Mindy for that one scene nod😉), Phantom of the Opera's Erik, Hannibal Lector and a dash of John Wick. AKA...my dream man😆 To quote Hannibal, "his pathology is a 10x more savage and more terrifying", but he's more. My heart broke for him, I felt my chest tighten. He is positively magnetic to watch and listen to...a masked Phantom, an apex predator, but beneath the blood, scars and mask, he is a man; a man whose heart begins to beat when it finds love & will murder the world to protect her. by @bellesbookishtower

💜Fever Bound💜 ✍️Author: @annacallawayauthor ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶🌶 🖤Grumpy/Sunshine 🧟‍♂️Post-Apocalypse (zombie-like virus) 💫Forced Proximity ❤️‍🔥Slow Burn ❤️‍🩹Hurt/Comfort I really love how Anna's characters come to life and they keep me coming back! This is a bit faster paced, forced proximity drama with some tension and romance. I like the smaller cast of characters, with it focused on sweet Ruby and broody Beckett. Some more fuller details I woulda liked, but it's a compact story and I liked the brisk pace. The revelation of the ending I was a little torn on and it being rather abrupt but, the story, overall I enjoyed much! Beckett keeps his viral feral nature at bay with pills and is looking for his sister. He happens upon a talkative bit of sunshine called Ruby that he is to take for a bounty and info on his sister's whereabouts. The first half is the trek and where they are more bantering. She seems a tiny soft underbelly he hides and he does his best to keep it hidden and also just wants to keep his distance to keep her safe from himself as the story progresses. The second half I favored since it really built on their growing feelings and how he has to control his nature...akin to a werewolf change when he has no memory of what he does but he knows he destroys and rips and feels like he's in a dark place and losing himself. She becomes an anchor, warmth and love blooming. The caretaking of him, his vulnerability, and him trying to temper the rage when it comes, I absolutely loved! Battling the beast within is such a strong thing to see and how they try to overcome it. So, I reccomend this for fans wanting to sit with characters (a true slow burn) and their relationship growth but also some thrills and tension and internal conflict at a faster easy pace. 💜Sworn to the Shadow Throne💜 By @astoria_hope ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶🌶 🖤Magic/Shadow Magic 💥Political Intrigue 💫Fated Mates ❤️‍🔥Slow Burn ❤️‍🩹Wound Tending I really like how this expands the political plot of the Assembly and this world! Plus we get appearances by our Book 1 main characters and it's done in such a way that one doesn't feel you're missing anything. We simply enrich this world which was so fun to dive back into. Owain is a formidable soldier, essentially his half-brother's (who's the King) executioner and military leader. Owain is respected but also feared for his more unpredictable shadow magic. He meets a friendly but strong willed fae when he comes to her door with near fatal wounds. A fated bond triggers but it is done with a slow burn mentality which I appreciated much more than most fated mates trope. They then travel back to the castle and more of their relationship grows amidst political turmoil. The balance was exciting but I do admit some of the pacing slowed up for me which is primarily why it's a solid 4 star read. I still very much loved it though for the world and this couple and how it takes time to have their relationship grow before complete intimacy. I really liked Owain and him being torn against controlling his magic, feeling bound by duty, and having such an honorable heart. There's romance, action, twists, magic, yearning, banter, it's a highly reccomended series to dive into and very much on board for book 3! #romantasy #sworntotheshadowthrone #fatedmates by @bellesbookishtower

🖤Guarded in Darkness🖤 By @authorvictorialum ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶🌶🌶 🖤Hidden Identity ❤️‍🔥Selectively Mute/Masked MMC 🖤Mafia/Organized Crime ❤️‍🔥Morally Gray MMC 🖤Sta1ker/Protector ❤️‍🔥Suspense I was so excited to see more about the mystersilent Ren, after the cliffhanger with him in book one! It segues so perfectly from book one to this one, so I highly reccomend reading that one as well! The suspense and romance mixed with organized crime and the supporting characters was excellently done here! I found Aria a bit quick to spiciness but putting that aside, I really liked her strength mixed with just the right amount of softness. Her chemistry with Ren is full of sparks. It grows with an overall slow-ish burn that feels right and natural. Some scenes of just them talking or soft touching were the most affecting to me. The hidden identities may require a little leap of faith as to them staying hidden...but it was a neat addition to add some fun to the story. There's inner workings of the crime syndicate in the background that kept me engaged as I like, as well as having our core cast of characters and side characters from other books making appearances which I always love when Victoria does that! I really loved this installment and especially the leads' dynamics, getting inside Ren's head in particular...his thought process, his dilemmas, his duties, ideas of revenge, secrets, grief etc. The conundrum he fights against himself of who he is, what hes done, can she love that? He's a wonderful mix of tenderness, angst and precision k1ller when the need arises. Truly a man who will burn the world to protect those he loves and we love that kind of man! 🩸Loving a Witch is Totally Foolish🩸 Second book in series, highly reccomend to read in order. ✍️Author: @aurahayesauthor ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶🌶🌶 🩸Vampire x Witch ❤️‍🩹Comfort/Healing ❤️‍🔥Fated Mates 💘Forced Proximity 😹Dark RomCom Vibes 🩵V1rgin MMC I loved this even more than the first and that's because I'm a sucker (no pun intended) for a wounded MMC (plus a v1rgin 🙌🏻). Valen has true PTSD fall out having been imprisoned for over a hundred years. I love how his "fish out of water" journey is at times romcom but also has those heartbreaking moments where he has episodes of anxiety. I liked seeing the man vulnerable in this way and Ava sensitive and caring to comfort him. She takes efforts to protect him that I found warming. And Valen encourages her to find out about her true witch heritage. She is spunky and sassy but also eager to find the truth and strong. The forced proximity is done naturally and well, as it brings our two faves from book one (Zav and Celine) back with us for quite a lot of the story too. It feels like an ensemble and very strong at that. The overarching drama deepens and it feels very organic, escalating the tension wonderfully! This sets up for the trilogy so well and it's been a exciting ride to follow. But the emotion of Valen is what really struck me, his back story and the tender moments. In this one we get such a beautiful way to discover Vito and Gina's past while also having it wrapped up in a ball of increasing drama and tension! Vito is our dark protector, a confidant and friend to the DeVita family. He would do anything to uphold a promise, to keep Gina safe and to defend his friends. I love this man soooo much! He has such honor, but also respect for himself and knows all parts of him, demon and all, are worth loving too. There are shades of grey and that's ok. Gina has to come to terms with a lot about herself, her nature, her past....and also come to realize the true feelings her stealthy bodyguard has harbored for her for decades. I truly loved how we get flashbacks in this, as it kept the momentum pumping in a very kinetic way. And we see Marco and Luca and everyone else again and it just feels like the continuation of a grand family saga, frought with danger, suspense, and excitement! I loved getting hooked into such a strong plot and having the characters always the focus. It felt wholly original...the world, the mafia dealings and the unique history of our paranormally spun main characters. Yet even with that, they feel intensely human with their emotions; real and raw, wounded, and passionate. Truly loved this couple and their love story that was a long time coming!
