today my Mom would’ve turned 59.

her youthful skin would’ve had people guessing she was still in her 40s. one of my funniest memories of her was her obsession with sunscreen. she would make homemade sunscreen by adding zinc oxide into the product and stored them in gatorade bottles. us kids could not leave the house in the summer without being lathered in this thick, pasty lotion. ”you’ll thank me when you’re 50 and have beautiful skin”, she’d always tell me. this might put us at the top of the list for the whitest family ever. regardless, she was always going above and beyond to take the best care of us 4 kids as possible.

i’m spending today celebrating her. she impacted more people in her 55 years than most do in a lifetime. i’m working everyday to live for her and make her proud. i know she’s still with me - in the stars, in the trees, in the ocean...in the universe. missing you endlessly. i love you. taken in Mercer Island, Washington by @bellla.johnson
