Thrilled to announce that Bellows’ sixth album, the mammoth double-LP “Que Bello!” is coming out on June 12th on @bloodyknucklesnyc ✨

It’s a giant record and @nadurath had the idea of releasing it in “chunks” instead of the traditional singles rollout. You can hear the first chunk now, “QB!” c. 1: green, 4 songs that represent the center of the album. I’m so excited to share this music with you over the next few months - I have a lot to say about the record’s meaning that I’ll share over time, a lot of it is about the abjection of persona-first art-as-commerce, the disposability one feels as an artist forced to sell a persona to stay afloat. It’s also about memory and the indelible, imagining through myth and history a world where beauty is absolute rather than conditional and sold out for short term gain.

Bellows is doing a big album release tour this summer to celebrate “Que Bello!” We’re gonna have a gigantic 6-piece lineup for this, it will be huge ~ playing with some of my favorite musicians & people of all time, you should come cuz it’s often years between our tours these days ✨

Tour is over feeling very blessed to have this sweet group of people playing my music with me and thankful to everybody who came out to chill with us ❤️

I had initially doubted I had the power in me to tour again but after doing this one I feel superhuman like I could perhaps always be on tour

That will not happen thank god but I loved playing the “qb!” songs with these amazing people & can’t wait to do it again either far in the future or whenever somebody asks me 🏰

Bellows is the bedroom recording project of songwriter and producer Oliver Kalb. The sound of Bellows is sensory and delicate, subtle and quiet, but erupts with frantic wobbling drums, large orchestral sections and bursts of noise that push the conventions of pop and folk. Started in late 2010 in a bedroom in upstate New York, Bellows has since blossomed from a solo recording experiment into a large-scale rock band, employing the help of friends to bring Kalb’s intimate home recordings to life on stage in sweeping, loud, and intense live performances.

Terror Pigeon- Nashville-based indie electro-pop project aka “the world’s sweatiest band!”

Slow Packer is a collaborative music project between two brothers, Jack Victor and Mike Henry Johnson. The two of them started playing music together as young kids, and performed and recorded with various bands over the years. This project is a return to their roots, working side-by-side to create original songs that reflect their musical background and multitude of shared experiences.

Sophia Corinne - “Sophia Corinne harvests poetry for the lines of each song from her life, one lived paying attention. Her songs are witness to the raw difficulties and layered radiant joys that every heart bears. In both writing and voice, Sophia’s songs offer the companionship of something beautiful for us to hold close in any season. Helloooo friends Bellows’ album release party for “Que Bello!” is tonight at @night_club_101 - hope you’ll join us to celebrate this gigantic tome of music that we made ~ also side note make sure to show up at 6:30 cuz it’s an early show, Parks is on at 6:45 and the whole thing ends at 9 ✌️

We go on tour immediately afterward, hope to see far flung friends at these shows as these will be the last Bellows tour dates for a long while ..

“To the God Nemesis”

Made this video for one of my favorite “QB!” tracks with my friends @toldslant_felix and @hanapruz — Felix had the idea of doing a video of only still photography with split-diopter shots that combine two images, we met up at the Met a few months ago and looked for ancient artifacts that looked like a curse had been placed upon them. This was a true trio collab, Felix’s photos, Hannah’s editing skills and intuition about how to move these frames rhythmically, and my camcorder footage. The song is my experiment with narrative songwriting, I’m pulling from the myth of Narcissus & Echo; Echo cursed to only be able to repeat the words of others, never generate her own, Narcissus cursed for spurning Echo’s love, doomed to stare at his own reflection until he became a flower. Both sides of the curse to me are the curse of the touring musician, “repeating words, that’s what beauty gave” - repeating your own narcissistic lyrical laments night after night in a self-echo. The self-echo is the cursed artist in the persona-scape.

The song features:

- @bellows4l making the Gregorian chant glitch at the beginning and most other elemental stuff

- @frank__meadows on the bowed upright, bass and piano

- @_lamniformes_ performed these drums for “Bureaucratic Tower” and we repurposed & time stretched them to work in this song

- @alennidotcom sings harmony

- @sharplessmusic produced & mixed it with me

You know we had to do it to em..

To celebrate “Que Bello!” coming out we made freaking gym shorts for you to wear thru the sweltering summer heat ☀️

They come in Knicks colors (ish), a fire engine orange/red, sky blue & then we also did classy brown and black for the ones who just need a bit of elegance

I will be peddling these wares on our tour in July but you can get em on our Bandcamp as well, I only made like 6 of each color so you know what to do 🩳 by @bellows4l

My giant opus “Que Bello!” is out today <3

It’s been such a long journey getting this album out in the world, pushing the rock up the hill every day. I’m so proud of the music we made and am so excited to share the full thing with you all finally. We recorded this at a home studio in Woodstock over 2023 and 2024 but it felt sort of too broad and too various to be one single record, songs about James Bond, the Renaissance, Greek myths. Ian joked that it was “Bellows goes to Europe” which obviously I considered as a title. Frank & Ian moving away and watching this era of the band come to an end focused the project for me as a celebration of our time together as a band. Jack and I committed to meet every Tuesday of 2025 to finish the record at all costs. I’m so happy we did cuz it’s my favorite music we’ve made.

“Don’t let your life go by too fast, linger on each midnight passing”: this is the mantra of the album. I have so much love and gratitude for the people who made this record exist and I celebrate with them today:

+ @sharplessmusic made this whole album alongside me, we co-produced everything & mixed it together, and he also plays bass, sings, wails on axe & does sampling and electronic experiments throughout

+ @_lamniformes_ plays drums & sings in the gang vocal choir

+ @frank__meadows plays piano and upright bowed bass noise

+ @emilyreo sang and composed gorgeous harmony arrangements through the whole album

+ @jakebjazz plays brass on tracks 14 + 15

+ @henrydhcrawford lent his powerful voice to several songs

+ @alennidotcom sang on track 7

+ @samecrab my brother sings gang vocal harmonies on several songs

+ @samantraa my beautiful betrothed sings on many songs, most plainly on Zoomin Aston Martin & Chrysanthemum Flowers ✨
