Jesus, the suffering servant.

we hate suffering, don’t we? we fill our lives with noise and distraction, with good things that make us happy happy happy, then we doom scroll ourselves to sleep, because when things get silent, when the distractions are removed, we must face the very things we are avoiding.

but maybe the point of life isn’t to avoid suffering, but to learn how to rest in the shadow of the one who bore our suffering - the full complete crushing weight of it, on the cross.

we would do well to learn to suffer well, to learn to be steadfast through pain, to fear no evil, to suffer like Jesus, who for the joy set before him endured the cross. to remind our souls that in this world there will be tribulation but to take heart. take heart. take heart. take heart. take heart.

face the pain, face the hurt, face the fear, face the disappointment, but not alone, face it hand in hand with the only one who can offer you healing, restoration, and true joy, unshakable joy.

for where you have sown with tears, you will reap with songs of joy. psalm 126:5-6

lift your eyes unto the hills, help is always on the way. by @belsantes

is what i believe evident in how i live?

i think about that question often, i adjust often, lay things down often, surrender often, rely on the grace of God constantly.

when we are clear about what we say “yes” to, all other decisions become simple…maybe not easy, but simple. when i married yojan i said yes to one man, and that yes also meant billions of no’s. no matter what, no matter where, my yes forever defines my no.

saying yes to Jesus has come with innumerable things to say no to. but that one yes, has been the greatest adventure of my life - every no to what the world has to offer is far far worth it.

for what can the world offer me that Christ doesn’t offer me better & more of?

forever thankful that He takes us as we are, but loves us so much that He doesn’t leave us that way. by @belsantes

i do not deserve, nor have i earned any days i have been given. thank you Jesus for life! june is almost over, but here’s may. also on april 1st 7 turned 6 and i didn’t acknowledge it and it’s been on my mind non stop. anyways

champion people.

be proud of them, use your words wisely, don’t get caught speaking foolishly about someone God loves deeply. be a person that others can trust. be a faithful friend. be someone that rejoices with those who rejoice, and weeps with those who weep. be real, don’t be fake. be kind, and gentle with your words. say you’re sorry when you slip up. mean it. work through the hard stuff. stay through the awkward. and be generous with your encouragement!

death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits. proverbs 18:21.

^read that again & then apply it if you want to see the fruit of it in your life.

go find someone and tell them you’re proud of them, speak some life into them, tell them you’re proud of them again. be a good friend. be like Jesus.

i’m just so full of gratitude for the people in my life who’ve been encouragers, truth speakers, and loyal friends, faithful in the highs and lows. the aim of my life to be that friend for others.❣️what an honor it is to be in relationship with one another. thank you Jesus. by @belsantes

GOD IS GOOD.

i love the reminder that no matter the situation in my life, the answer is found at the feet of Jesus. the healing, the joy, the peace, the understanding, the rest, and the wake-up call. all of it, everything, is found in Him.

i am hopelessly lost without Him. there is nothing good inside of me apart from Him. i am unashamedly in love with Him. everything returns to Him. by @belsantes

stewed for too long, april is pretty much here. all i know is this life is not supposed to be about us. that’s not a cute thing to believe, it’s maybe one of the hardest things we’ll ever have to grapple with since self-prioritization has weaseled its way into every area of our lives and culture.

but maybe most of our problems & frustrations in life are because we care too much about ourselves, we’re too in love with our dreams and plans, too obsessed with callings and gifts and not the giver. too quick too desire the first instead of the last.

lord help us decrease, help us love the seed instead of becoming obsessed with the possibility of a tree.

“The one who has the bride is the bridegroom. The friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly at the bridegroom’s voice. Therefore this joy of mine is now complete. He must increase, but I must decrease.” john 3:29-30

rejoice with the bridegroom, for He alone is enough to fill every need, gap, and desire. by @belsantes
