One of Beltanes favourite things to do is teach new dancers the ways of dark border morris. Though different in style to other Morris types, much of the movement and technique is shared- making it accessible to all. The unique spirit of Beltanes style of dark border comes from raw wild energy; the fierceness and the tight movements creating a wild and aggressive flow that conjures the dancers into a whirlwind of flying tatters and iridescence. Like a mob of crows Swooping o’er Haytor…Here you can see how infectious this energy is, as nearly 40 good Priddy folk connect through dance, to create a powerful feeling of Delicious dark border. Up the Drewe!This Thursday we journey into and out of the darkest Dartmoor valleys to find ourselves at @drewearmscommunitypub - a sensational little slice of Dartmoor character, a pub with a tremendous history and reputation. We dance with the effervescent Cogs and Wheels of they parts, we are always greatly pleased to join them in dancing in the northern moors. It greatly pleases Beltane to return to @priddyfolkfestival .Since our first visit in 2023, we’ve been keen to once again grace the ambient Mendip hills with boot stomping chaotic Morris dancing.
