'Sila @sila.sitting.still modeled for us Wednesday night at @atelier.nextdoor. Playing with gestures drawn in watercolour graphite (chose too light of a colour) and then either added a plain wash or gouache later or drew over the gestures in Sharpie pen or gouache... Ticking off a long list of techniques to try.

It's totally random how some portraits end up representational, and others just don't. Neurons glitching between my eyes and hand. Yes, that's it! Apologies to 'Sila (and all my other models)! taken in Little Portugal by @bemacdougall

Experimenting with 'Sila @sila.sitting.still Wednesday evening at @atelier.nextdoor. This time she turned into a atmospheric landscape. Love the slickness of marker paper, and seeing the difference pushing or pulling the brush. Pushing it gives me instant highlights. The trick for me is to not overwork it. I am the queen of overworking/going too far. taken in Little Portugal by @bemacdougall
