“All this time I told myself we were born from war—but I was wrong, Ma. We were born from beauty. Let no one mistake us for the fruit of violence—but that violence, having passed through the fruit, failed to spoil it.” Ocean Vuong. It can be awfully lonely thinking about ways intergenerational trauma persists and manifests in our bodies and lives. But then I think about the power I have in (re)writing my narrative, in having authorship of my own legacy. Re-centering yourself, your community… that is healing. I’m so happy and grateful to be doing this in my own way. 🤍 @ban.con.nit thank u sm for the support from: @vwatfamilyservices @dearbeauty @mayflowers.studio #CanadaServiceCorps by @bemaimakes
